The Postmedia Cons: We Don't Get No Respect Waaaaah !!!!
The other day I suggested that Postmedia reporters must be in some kind of contest to see who can attack Justin Trudeau the most.
To please their boss Paul Godfrey, and try to keep their jobs.
But don't let them know that you think they're biased.
Or they'll accuse you of showing them no respect.
As Gerald Butts, Trudeau's principal secretary, found out when he tweeted this little Valentine ditty.
Only to have Michael Den Tandt, one of the worst offenders rise to the challenge.
While other Cons joined in...
Until Butts finally gave up...
Only to have David Akin in a later tweet prove my point at least...
Postmedia, its publisher, its editorialists, and its political reporters, are too Con friendly.
They do not represent the views of most Canadians.
And that ghastly Con conglomerate deserves the fate that awaits it...

Simon, anyone who reads a newspaper anymore knows postmedia are reform-a-con friendly. That front page Con-ad they ran in their newspapers right before the last election proves that.
ReplyDeleteMore people are reading the Alternative media now.Read somewhere yesterday that the the papers losing money and jobs wants the government to think about helping them out. What nonsense.I'm sure Gerald Butts will get right on that request.
hi anon....yes I know, Postmedia has lost its moral compass, if it ever had one, and is now just a propaganda organ of the Harper Party. And yes it's very important hat we support alternative media, and develop new journalistic outlets, because we're going to need the when the old media collapses...
DeleteIt'll be a happy day for me when Postmedia shuts its doors for good.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the love of all things holy, let's make sure a single penny of Canadian taxpayer dollars never go to Postmedia or other media conglomerates in Canada.
we do not know what the future will bring, so ensuring not "a single penny of Canadian taxpayers dollars never go to Postmedia," etc. is a tad over the top.
DeleteWe currently are not fond of Postmedia, However, it is called freedom of the press. Perhaps it is unfortunate that today, that price comes high, because only those with the money can afford to have freedom of the press.
The press whether you agree with them or not, is necessary in a free and democratic society. Everyone likes to complain about the press however, few are willing to put their money where their opinions are.
The media has changed as has society and how we communicate. If you don't like PostMedia then please find a "press" you do like and support it. a country without a press, is not a country.
hi anon...I don't really want to see more Canadian papers bite the dust, and more journalists lose their jobs. But Postmedia has become such a ghastly Con entity nobody will miss it...
Deletehi e.a.f... don't worry new media will arise from the ashes of the old. Postmedia may go down but from it will come something better...
DeletePostmedia is Sun 11. Saw Rosie Barton tweet of love to
ReplyDeleteRona Ambrose also. Or at least of extreme like. What happened to our country?
hi anon...yes this weekend marks the first anniversary of the death of Sun News, and what a happy occasion that was. They were the voice of the Con regime, now it's Postmedia, and it will suffer the same fate and for the same reasons....
Deletejeebus h. kryste! How can such a bunch of vicious, backstabbing assholes like the con media, let alone village idiots like pemple (as in huge zit) and lame-rose, EVER come up with the idea that they are anything other than garden variety rabid con attack rats? den tandt is just another simpering subaltern who is just spouting the company trash talking points to keep his oh-so-important position so he is understandable. Fear does terrible things to real men...turns them into harpers, bairds, kenneys, den tandts, etc.
ReplyDeletehappy fambly day to all the cons...
Happy Family Day to the real Canadians who actually do care about this country.
Amen, Aum Ha, So Mote It Be, A-mi Torfor.
hi anon...the reason the Con media has fallen so low is because the Harperites dragged this country into their own sewer. It will take a while to drag ourselves out of this swamp, but we are heading in the right direction. And the Cons are desperate because they know we are going to destroy them...
DeleteDen Tandt's claim of caring for the hard working employees rings hollow when he and his peer's mostly negative columns towards our new government are seen as sour grapes by the majority. Their blatant bias at the behest of their Con loving boss Paul Godfrey will be a major factor when Postmedia's walls come tumbling down. I haven't bought a Sun or NP in ages just for that reason so when it happens and you're looking for someone to blame, look in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime I've written a fitting epitaph, Postmedia: where balanced journalism ceased to exist.
JD
hi JD...you know the sad thing is that papers like the Post do have some very good stories, so they do have some real and talented journalists working there. But Godfrey and his bosses are only interested in using Postmedia as a political instrument and it shows. And it will be what destroys them...
DeleteSimon, after reading your post about how Coyne attacked Trudeau, suggesting that Canada had a role to play in bombing sand in Iraq and Syria, I sent an email to Coyne:
ReplyDeleteI think you might find it helpful to read Stephen Walt’s evaluation of the rot in the policy the West has been following in the Middle East since the Clinton years and why everything we touch goes wrong.
http://foreignpolicy.com/2016/01/29/the-u-s-should-admit-it-has-no-middle-east-policy-obama-cold-war-israel-syria/
You seem to forget that our bombing campaign in Libya was instrumental in the reduction of that country into today’s failed state. The Middle East is not the disaster it is today for any want of Western bombing.
The problem with your logic, Coyne, is that it breeds the mentality that leads to acceptance of PermaWar – war without victory, war without end, war for the sake of war. The world watches as we screw up, again and again and again. As the good professor Walt writes, it realizes that we’re not martially credible. As we beat our heads against one wall after another they see the blood running down our faces and they scoff at us.
I hope you grasp that we were defeated in Afghanistan. We weren’t defeated militarily but that was irrelevant to the issue. When we finally left they, the other side, still occupied the field with their clusters of illiterate farm boys clutching Korean-war vintage assault rifles.
When do you think we’re going to win one of these? There are plenty of other places now where we can find and bomb ISIS fighters – Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, the sub-Saharan Sahel (Senegal) or back to Afghanistan, perhaps the Philippines or Indonesia. Where do you think we should try next? Maybe we should send a dozen CF-18s. That might make a difference.
The following day I sent Coyne a link to the UN Security Council report on how ISIS/Da'esh/ISIL had spread from the reaches of North Africa to South Asia and on into Southeast Asia as well as the southern territories of China and Russia.
Not a word in response.
hi Mound...good for you for sending Coyne that e-mail, and it is bang on. PermaWar is what it's all about, especially wherever there is oil. I can't believe how many people in this country are mindlessly belligerent, when if things keep escalating they would lead to a superpower confrontation and even a nuclear war. It's absolute insanity, and I must say the musings about going back to Libya after we left it in ruins is deeply troubling. As if climate change wasn't a big enough threat, now it seems we want to go down guns blazing...
Deletepoor poor Michael Den Tandt, he works so hard making shit up, moaning like a sick baby. Harden up Den Tandt, you tell everyone else to, you freakin' crybaby
ReplyDeletehi Unknown...yes it is pathetic isn't it? Especially since Den Tandt has been on an absolute tear recently. Pouring out articles attacking Trudeau for being a wimp, a bad economist etc etc. And that was something he never did when Harper was running things no matter what he says. It has to be just a way to try to impress his very Con bosses...
Deletewhat started out as a funny little poem certainly got a lot of people's nickers in a knot.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't like Michelle Rempel's politics I do think the poem is funny, just as Butts is.
In the grand scheme of things there is nothing to get our nickers in a knot over with these poems. The state of the media in Canada, is of course another story. Its people's jobs, how they pay their bills, etc. We may not like the way PostMedia "interprets" the news, but its the only thing we really have right now. The independents closed their doors because they couldn't make a living.
Well, then. if it's all we have why then let's by all means make sure we support those sick, traitorous assholes and their fear/hate mongering because, after all, simpering and kowtowing to the rightwing fascist idiots like postmedia is what made Canada so great for the last 10 years.
DeleteThe independent news agencies were driven out of business by the allowance of legal monopolies in Canada at the expense of actual free enterprise by your pals the CONS.
