Brad Wall and the Phoney Con Refugee Scare

I like to think that in some refugee camp in the Middle East, a mother and her children have just found out that they could be in Canada in just a few weeks.

And that they are a lot happier than they are in this photo.

For they have been living in hell.

So you can imagine how I felt when I saw that Brad Wall, the Premier of Saskatchewan, the Little Con on the Prairie, the ferocious oil pimp, thinks they and 25,000 other refugees should just cool their jets.

Because he thinks they're too dangerous.

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall is citing safety concerns for his wanting the federal government to suspend its plan to bring in 25,000 Syrian refugees by year's end.

"I do believe that if there's a chance that even only one person would use the refugee process to come into this country with a plan to do ill, to do bad things in Canada to Canadians, that's worth it, that's worth some circumspection," Wall said Monday at the Regina legislature.

Which only makes Wall look like a very little man, and a clear and present danger to our Canadian values.

For while there may be some good reasons to extend the deadline a bit, to make sure we're ready to receive our new arrivals, putting the program on hold would be cruel and outrageous.

Cruel because the refugees we will be bringing in are living in horrible conditions and desperate to get out.

With families who will make up about two thirds of the refugees, desperate to get their children to safety...

And others like gay men, who ISIS likes to throw off buildings...

Desperate to be accepted by any country, as soon as is humanly possible. Because even some refugee camps offer them no safe haven.

And outrageous because there is very little chance that the refugees we will be bringing in will pose any kind of terrorist threat.

The situation in Europe with its hordes of migrants on the march, and its open borders, is very different from the one in Canada. Where refugees will be properly screened, in addition to also being screened by specialized personnel in U.N. camps.

Most terrorist attacks to date have been carried out by people who were either born or raised in the country they attacked.

And refugees are among the last people to be terrorists, when they are their victims. And the ISIS crazies hate them as much or more than they hate us.

Because they believe they should be happy to live in their monstrous so-called Caliphate.

For those who want to blame the attacks on Paris on refugees, you might want to get your facts straight. The reality is, The Islamic State (IS) loathes that individuals are fleeing Syria for Europe. It undermines IS’ message that its self-styled Caliphate is a refuge, because if it was, individuals would actually go there in droves since it’s so close instead of 100,000s of people risking their lives through arduous journeys that could lead to death en route to Europe.

So by labelling the refugees a terrorist threat, Wall is only playing into the hands of the real terrorists.

And pandering to the bigots in this country, who believe that one refugee is too many.

Or sending out the wrong message to the fearful and the brutishly ignorant who would put up signs like this one in a Toronto neighbourhood...

But the most depressing part of Wall's proposal is that it would make us all look as small and as fearful as he is.

When in fact after living for almost ten years in the barbarous darkness of Harperland, many of us, myself included, are desperate to show that we still know what being a CANADIAN means.

And the refugee crisis is a golden opportunity to do just that. It is a challenge but I don't doubt that we can meet it.

I mean why did we buy those big transport planes? Let's ask Jason Kenney...

Or on second thoughts let's not. Because he was one of the ones who fuelled the bigotry problem in this country, along with his depraved leader, for crass political purposes.

And it's time we showed that we are better than them and their Cons. And that where there's a will there's a way.

And in that regard, I'm happy and proud to report that little Scotland, the other country I love, is setting a really good example.

Scotland is expecting to receive a third of the Syrian refugees due to arrive in the UK before Christmas. In a reflection of the country’s readiness in comparison to other parts of the UK, Scotland is preparing to welcome one in three of the thousand refugees David Cameron has agreed to take before the end of the year, although the Scottish government’s proportionate commitment was to take 10% of the total number.

Today the first group of refugees will be arriving in that country, and many Scots are preparing to welcome them with open arms...

And if my Scotland can do that, so can my Canada.

In fact I'm excited and happy, because I can't imagine a better or more magical Christmas story.

But I can imagine myself saying this:

Hello my poor suffering brothers and sisters, my name is Simon.

And I just want to say welcome to freedom.

Welcome to our liberated country.

Welcome to CANADA !!!!!

  1. Wall? Playing to the base, of course. Maybe he's thinking of running for the leadership of the federal Cons? He seems just another Harper Con to me.

    1. hi jrkrideau...he insists he is not interested in being Con leader, but I believe he has an election coming up next year, and it strikes me as posturing for political purposes. He could have communicated his concerns in a more discreet manner, rather than playing into the hands of the bigots...

    2. wall has also been studying French for the last couple of years, so despite his protestations to the contrary, I am betting he will run for the conservative leadership. This was his dog whistle to the base across Canada, I mean look at the media coverage he got, on every major network news program. That wasn't for a Saskatchewan audience alone. His poll numbers are already high in SK, unfortunately, so this was definitely intended for national appeal.

  2. When I read this yesterday, my first thought was 'Wall is a Bilderberger'! This kind of summed it up for me!

World Depopulation is on the agenda, no?

jrkrideau may be on to something...

April 4, 2016 is the next Saskatchewan provincial election. Plenty of time for Wall to have a walk in the snow, resign without screwing his party and take on Kenney for for the top federal con posting.

Wall, like Kenney, is a lifelong politico who has never had a real job. Yea!

I'm also from Sask and thoroughly embarrassed by Brad. He was elected in 2007 by small business owners, big oil supporters, fundamentalists, and people who are not very bright. I think I can feel the tide turning now, though, finally.

They are making political hay from a tragedy and it makes them all look nasty and afraid and cowardly. We must have proportional representation by the next election so they can never get a chance to govern again.

    1. hi anon....yes I don't think it's unfair to say that only a Con can try to use tragedy and fear for crass political purposes. And of course I agree, let's do all we can to try to ensure they never get a chance to govern again, and shame us in such a foul manner...

    Brad Wall can suck it.
He's Canada's nothing version of Donald Trump.
Millions of people travel every day. Do we stop them from entering the country too?
But here's another culprit in the whole story: the media. The CBC is interviewing hacks that are filling out petitions by the dozens asking Canada to stop trying to help helpless people, like those hacks have some kind of credibility.
And let's stop using the number 25,000 as a noose that we'll cinch around Trudeau's neck. Let's start looking at it as a TARGET that our government has set and let's all start to do our thing to help make it happen.
Ugh. The whole thing disgusts me because people are linking victims to the criminals and making them criminals too.

    1. hi anon...we take in 250,000 immigrants a year, so five or six thousand families will have as much impact on worried Canadians, as a snow flake does on one of the Great Lakes.
And I agree with you, the 25,000 number should be something to aim for, and if it takes a little more time to get the job done then by all means take that time....

Simon, you read my mind in this blog. While I agree we need to screen these refugees, it is time Canada did their part in helping these innocent victims of ISIS. That Brad Wall is a real piece of shat!!!!! I am confident that Pm Trudeau will do the right thing!!!!! Must be the water, or the toxins, from Alberta"s dirty tar sands and tailing ponds travelling to SK that makes him think like a racist, self serving Con!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hi anon...yes, the refugees should be screened on the odd chance that some crazy might try to enter Canada the hard way. But they will be screened, and they will be chosen from the ranks of the most vulnerable, including many families headed by women who have lost their husbands, so I don't see them as serious threat. And Wall's suggestion that one possible rotten apple should ruin it for 25-thousand others is cruel and absurd...

Brad should stop talking nonsense. There are many people in Canada's prison's who have committed more serious crimes causing death and destruction than these 25,000 would ever think about committing.Doubt any are Syrian refugees.

Or maybe Brad lives in this world.

    1. hi anon...I absolutely agree. Trying to portray the refugees as some kind of threat is really callous and unforgivable. I am concerned with the deadline, because I want to make sure that we do this thing properly. But we can easily absorb that number of refugees, we should see it as a way to affirm our values, and celebrate that rather than acting so small and scared....

He is right now the most popular provincial leader on Canada. Shame on Saskatchewan. I hope they wake up like the rest of Canada and throw the Con bums to the gutter where they belong.

Brad Wall, Jason Kenney and the postmedia puppets who reside under Godfrey's desk are keeping Harper's dream alive with their inane, hateful comments, tweets and divisive ways while Rona idly stands by. These are the reasons we voted those fu**ers out but yet here we are having to listen to it all over again. I am so sick of this bunch that I resolve to help ensure these scumbags never run this country again.

    1. hi JD...that's the only good thing I can think of to say about Wall, he isn't as bad as Kenney. But then who could be? And if Wall keeps it up he will find himself in very bad company. The good news though is that the Cons have been been losing power all over the country. So when Newfoundland tosses out their Con government, Wall will be a very lonely figure. And hardly the guy to lead the Cons to victory....

when I heard the news, the first thing which went through my mind, "running for the Con leadership".

Brad Wall needs to shut up and pay attention to the number of deaths in his province due to drinking and distracted driving. That kills more in most provinces than were killed in Paris.

Brad just wants to flap his gums and look important. What it does is fans the flames of racism. Brad doesn't speak for me. I will welcome Syrian refugees from the refugee camps in Jordon, etc.

When people carry on about 25K coming into Canada, look at how many tourists come into Canada each yr and we accommodate them. Granted, they stay in hotels, but when you think there are 10 provinces and a couple of territories, its not that many people. If distributed across the country, it would be more like, we have a lot of relatives coming for a spell. Many will have relatives who they will stay with. Some will be supported by churches, mosques, temples, etc. Trust me, you won't even notice the additions. We're a big country.

It always amazes me how people can react. If you are in a place like Greater Vancouver, you have people of all races, nationalities, and religions. I look European, so people automatically think I was born here. Not so much. My friends who look Chinese, born here. People who look south asia, born here, so were their parents and grandparents. There are Sikhs whose families have been here for a 100 yrs. Yes, they wear turbans. its a religious thing. guys like Brad Wall need to get over themselves and get on with life.

Our parents, grandparents and so forth all came to Canada looking for a better life and to become Canadians. That is my Canada. Brad Wall needs to check his biases at the door his ancestors came through.

    2. hi e.a.f...as I said above, we bring in 250,000 immigrants a year, so we can easily handle about 5,000 families. And since Quebec and Ontario have offered to take 16,000 that leaves only a few hundred families to settle in the rest of the country. We're a big young country and that shouldn't be a problem...
