Why Is the Con Clown Joe Oliver Missing In Action?

The economy is teetering on the edge of disaster. The stock market is on a wild roller coaster ride. The loonie or Harper peso has fallen to its lowest level in eleven years. Thousands are losing their jobs.

But Joe Oliver, the alleged Con FInance Minister, is nowhere to be seen.

He has held no newsers, issued no reassuring statements to worried Canadians. He has been missing in action.

And it seems the only Canadians he's willing to talk to are the rich old guys at private men's clubs.

For the second day in a row, Conservative candidate Joe Oliver has cancelled plans to speak to a private club in his role as finance minister. Mr. Oliver was scheduled to deliver a speech Wednesday in his capacity as finance minister on “the future of the Canadian economy” to a private men’s club.

Or was, until he had to hurriedly cancel his fundraising opportunity, at that bastion of...um...musty masculinity.

A profile of the Cambridge Club in the Financial Post this year said Mr. Oliver, who spent most of his career on Bay Street, first joined the club when it opened in 1973. The article described the club as being “every inch a masculine refuge” with bound volumes of Playboy magazine filling most of one shelf.

One member described the club in the article as “one of the last bastions of manhood.”

Can you believe that? I knew Oily Oliver was about a hundred years old, possibly senile, and hopelessly incompetent...

But who knew that he was such a stud or an old-fashioned sexist?

And although that did lead to a memorable moment when Chrystia Freeland crashed the club only to be confronted by the sight of a guy in a bathrobe.

A Toronto men's club catering to Bay Street's "influencers," "philosophers" and "party animals" has been thrust into the election spotlight. University-Rosedale Liberal candidate Chrystia Freeland crashed the private Cambridge Club on Wednesday aiming to speak to the media ahead of a planned speech by Conservative Finance Minister Joe Oliver.

And even though it was hilarious in a scary sort of way. Who knew clubs like that still existed? Do they have a secret handshake and are these clowns really running Bay Street?

The Cambridge Club caters to the Bay Street crowd, according to its website. “Let’s hear it for the Bay Street Boys, the contenders, the connoisseurs, the tastemakers and the suits. Here’s to the early birds, the influencers, the philosophers, the party animals and the class clowns," the website says.

You have to wonder what Oliver was thinking, if he's still capable of doing that.

Or for that matter wonder who came up with the dumb idea of having the hapless Michelle Rempel fill in for the useless Olly on TV shows like Power and Politics?

Where yesterday she made an absolute fool of herself AND acted like a rude pig. By insisting on referring to Justin Trudeau as just Justin. Even after Chrystia Freeland, who as you can see had a busy day, asked her to call him Mr Trudeau.

And of course, because while the boorish Rempel may know something about fundraising and wine tasting.

Taxpayers could be feeling sour grapes after a Conservative cabinet minister was spotted mixing and mingling public and party business.

You might even say Michelle Rempel, Canada's Minister for Western Diversification ("& sommelier"), sunk to a brand new merlot for pairing official government business with a Conservative Party wine tasting fundraiser for an unelected Edmonton-area Conservative candidate at the end of June.

And one can only hope that she hadn't had too much wine before she appeared on Power and Politics. Although that would explain her rude behaviour.

That absurd Con Miss Muffet knows NOTHING about high finance.

And this is how she looked when the host asked her whether the Cons were now running a deficit. Not a healthy surplus like her Great Leader keeps claiming...

She couldn't answer the question, she dodged it shamelessly. And for a very good reason.

Since Oliver's budget was based on oil at $56 a barrel, and it's now hovering around $37 a barrel, or about the price of a case of beer. The Cons aren't growing the economy, they're growing a massive DEFICIT.

Which just happens to be why they are hiding Oliver. They can't trust him to remember his PMO lines. And claim that they still have a surplus.

Even though, like Rempel, he is just another hopeless stooge of the deranged former mail room clerk Stephen Harper, who would pass himself off as a Great Economist Leader....

When Harper couldn't have made more of a mess of the economy, and is nothing but a liar and a Con artist.

You know, it's frightening to think that there are so many suckers in this country who believe that deranged leader's bullshit. His shameful hollow boasts, his pathological lies.

But no sane person should be fooled. If those Con artists aren't removed from office, as soon as humanly possible.

They will wreck our economy, and they will kill our country.....

    1. hi David...Rempelstiltskin? I love it. ;) You know once upon a time I thought Rempel might be better than most of the other Cons. But I was mistaken. She sold her soul to Stephen Harper and now she's as bad as the rest of them, and just as shameless...

    1. hi anon....I feel the same way. In this election progressives must put their country before their parties, and make sure that the Cons are defeated in every possible riding. We can argue over what the New Canada should look like as we rebuild it. But first we have to save it....

Perhaps because he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. His last budget will surely be loaded with 'turd blossoms' that will blow up on any acquiring party.

Don't forget that in a time of crisis, Stephen Harper hid in a closet, so that might be the first place to look?

    1. hi anon...I hate to imagine what will be in Oliver's last budget, since we won't be able to check the figures until after the election, and it's bound to be as fraudulent as all the other Con budgets. But once they're out of power, if fraud is discovered they can be made to pay for it...

The oily strategy is to sell our natural resources for pennies to foreign competitors who add value by converting it into consumer products so Canadians can buy our resources back for dollars. Great business for the multinationals but not such a good deal for the average Canadian or the economic future of our country. Free trade can benefit society but there has to be a strategy beyond Harper's great oily "pump to the max" vision. Fortunately they do have a back up plan which is to build up our arms manufacturing capability so Canadians can take our proud rightful place on the international stage. Oil and guns what a Canadian vision!!

    1. hi RT....yes, it's not my my vision. The ghastly Cons have tried to reduce us to our old role as hewers of wood and drawers of water, or in this case oil. They have no strategy or vision, and unless we evict them and soon, they will reduce us even further, and turn this country into a backwater struggling to keep up with the others...

  8. If anyone should spot the elusive Joe Oliver, please take a pic of him and share it with others - the hashtag to be used is #spotatory Conservative candidates are scarcer than hen's teeth, or jackalopes, I am told. Imagine if we could all check out this strange breed at #spotatory

    1. hi Glenn....I will deploy my birdwatching equipment to his riding immediately. I understand the Oliver can be occasionally spotted knocking or pecking at doors, since he is apparently in a close race with Eve Adams. And the thought of being defeated by Eve has him thinking of nothing else, and the economy can wait, first things first...

Your correct about Michelle Rempel, Simon. She is rude, obnoxious, and only spews fact-less Con talking points. Her hypocrisy is overwhelming, especially when she criticizes others for talking over her as she interrupts every other speaker or panelist. She shows no tact or respect, only boorish con behavior. Her role models obviously were Baird, Calandra, del Masto and the other loud mouthed bullies of this Con regime.

A certain attitude often accompanied by a squinty look and a superior smile that makes you instantly hate a person. Similar to snobby.

    3. hi anon 8:21...I'm afraid you're right. Rempel has drunk the Kool Aid and has become just another of Stephen Harper's hapless stooges. I thought the way she went out of her way to refer to Trudeau as Justin, after Freeland asked her to show some respect, was extremely boorish and rude. Stephen Harper does corrupt everything he touches...
