Why Jason Kenney Should Resign Immediately

It's now been two full days since this shocking report on sexual harassment and violence in the Canadian Armed Forces.

The Canadian Armed Forces perpetuates a sexualized military culture that is hostile to women and gay members, and harassment and assault are often tolerated by senior officers, according to a report released Thursday.

But still Jason Kenney, the Defence Minister, has yet to issue a single solitary statement, about the problem and what he expects the military to do about it.

So now I'd like to ask that grotesque chicken hawk which of these details does he NOT find offensive?

Participants reported of dubious relationships between lower rank women and higher rank men, and date rape. In extreme cases, sexual violence was used to enforce power relationships and to punish and ostracize a member of a unit.

The use of the word “cunt” is commonplace, and rape jokes are tolerated.

Those or this one:

Male victims of sexual assault are even less likely than women to report what happened to them. Deschamps heard stories about violent sexual attacks involving men, including gang rape. The report found that male victims may be afraid of being seen as weak, or potentially as gay in a culture that continues to have “strains of homophobia,” which prevents them reporting the crime.

Or all of them.

And does he not find even this disgusting?

The Royal Military College of Canada was told two years ago that senior cadets were sexually assaulting younger students, but the man who brought the problem to the attention of the institution’s leaders says his warnings received little more than a lackadaisical response.

And if by chance he does find all of the above deeply disturbing, like most decent Canadians, why is he remaining silent?

Because in the absence of any other explanation I have to believe it's because he has always been a strong opponent of women's rights. The leader of the Con's rabid religious base.

The one who even promoted the Con's income splitting plan as a way of encouraging women to stay at home , hopefully barefoot and pregnant.

And the one who has always been a grotesque anti-gay bigot. The one who once blew this contemptuous statement out of every orifice.

Conservative MP Jason Kenney says gays have every right to marry whoever they want - as long as it isn't someone of the same sex.

"The fact is that homosexuals aren't barred from marrying under Canadian law..."Marriage is open to everybody, as long as they're a man and a woman," said Kenney.

And among other things tried to block any reference to gay rights from a citizenship guide.

Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney blocked any reference to gay rights in a new study guide for immigrants applying for Canadian citizenship, The Canadian Press has learned.

That makes him in my book at least, nothing more than a low bigot.

And the problem is that by remaining silent now, Kenney is sending the wrong message to the military leadership, who have consistently tried to play down the problem.

Just last year Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Tom Lawson flatly rejected the notion that sexual misconduct “is part of our military culture.” Today, those words ring hollow.

And who even now have only accepted TWO of the TEN recommendations made in the report.

Deschamps makes a number of thoughtful recommendations, but the military is prepared to take on board only the easiest ones at the moment. Lawson promised the armed forces will at long last acknowledge the seriousness of the issue, and will develop a strategy to change the culture. Of course, we’ve heard such promises before.

And since the generals will interpret his silence accordingly...

It will practically guarantee that female and LGBT soldiers will continue to be victimized.

And for that alone, never mind all his other many flaws, Jason Kenney is unfit to be a Canadian Defence Minister.

And should resign immediately....

Or we could start publicizing kenney's famous record of his navel (spelling not incorrect) days of military service and make an opera out of them. We could call it "Buggary on the High Seas" or something like that.

    1. hi anon...you're not suggesting that Jasonella ever went to sea are you? That would be a frightening thought. Although I can see him playing in the Charles Laughton version of Mutiny on the Bounty... ;)

Kenny it is time for you to resign now. The Canadian public have had enough of your dismal distorted criminal mind you display. You create nothing but hate with your fear mongering lies and bullshit. We will not take it anymore. Boycott Stampede week Canada. Time to teach some lessons. Save the stampede for next year where you can visit both harper his wife and 2 panda bears at the Calgary zoo. China is laughing at Harper they gave him 2 gay male pandas.

    1. hi anon...yes, he has been a lousy minister, but not saying a word about such a scandal is simply beyond belief. He anounced the report was coming but then disappeared. You can't be more cowardly or more shameless than that....

  5. I. Am. Shocked. the Canadian Armed Forces has a severe problem with an underlying sexual culture that is hostile to women, gay service members, and any other minority group that isn't white, male and privileged. And to make matters worse (if that's possible) it does little to nothing to defend or care for its victims of sexual assault and harassment and in the past has even refused to acknowledge the extent and pervasiveness of the problem of inappropriate sexual misconduct. Huzzah! A male dominated, cult-like group, that bathes in the waters of racism, sexism, misogyny, and power? Wow. Who knew that such an organization could breed such behaviour? Shocking!!! lol

    1. hi Omar...I know you're being sarcastic, but I was genuinely shocked. I thought that we had made some progress but we seem to be slipping backwards. And it's not just the military it's our whole country. For example I also find it hard to believe some of the sexist bestiality coming out of our universities or for that matter the CBC. W need to crack the whip again and remind people we're living in the 21st century...
