Stephen Harper and the Revolt of the Sheep Media

Well as we know Stephen Harper chose to deliver his deranged speech on terrorism the other day, at a campaign-style rally in Toronto rather than in Parliament.

But who knew that while Big Brother Harper ranted and raved about the need for new terror laws, and the need to read our e-mails, back in Ottawa the Parliamentary media were also being terrorized?

Locked up, deprived of information, caught up in an  Orwellian nightmare.

Reporters in Ottawa became surly quickly Friday when it was discovered the government lock-up they attended for a briefing on proposed anti-terror legislation was light on information and heavy on restrictions.

Until they finally revolted.

The minor grumblings about the lack of information that had been moving around the room suddenly matured into outright dissent. ''Can you give us an explanation for why you would hold a briefing and not give us the legislation at the beginning?'' boomed one reporter.

''We'd be happy to take your questions on the substance of the information,'' replied a frazzled bureaucrat attempting to maintain a social veneer. He was then interrupted by another salvo of displeasure. ''We don't have any information,'' they said.

''We haven't even had time to read the backgrounders!'' and ''Give us the bill!'' were shouted by reporters on chairs circling the room.

Even as Big Brother descended from the ceiling to deliver his message...

Meanwhile, a massive white screen lowered from the ceiling behind two Canadian flags. A six-metre-tall Stephen Harper was projected onto it as he gave a speech to introduce the new anti-terror legislation live in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

The prime minister talked about a growing ''great evil'' Canadians need to be scared of in the form of violent jihadists wanting to kill anyone ''who does not share their narrow and oppressive world view.''

And when I'd read the story, and stopped shaking, with laughter. All I could think of is it's about time.

For if the MSM had revolted years ago, instead of spending the last nine years polishing Great Leader's behind with their noses.

Or singing his praises in unison...

We might not be living this nightmare...

But at least some in the MSM are finally standing up on their hind legs. And finally explaining how Stephen Harper tried to kill the messengers.

Some of the book’s most valuable sections illustrate how the kind of control applied to the media and the public sphere is being applied to policy-making – think the dismantling of the long-gun registry, cancelling the long-form census, or ignoring declining crime rates when crafting new justice legislation.

If you are determined to pass certain kinds of laws, then suppressing the flow of information about how effective the laws are will make them more difficult to criticize.

Or muzzle them.

So more Canadians can understand how Harper's totalitarian mindset reflects itself in the totalitarian way his Con Death Machine operates.

In a manner as I have pointed out before, that would make Orwell's Big Brother turn green with envy...

So more Canadians might understand where Harper might take us if he should ever win another bloody majority.

And the other good news is what that Orwellian lockup story also tells me.

And that is, if anyone thought that the Big Blue Machine was sailing on through the storm unscathed by the fact that its campaign platform has been blown out of the water.

And despite the sad state of its Captain or Great Leader...

Well now they know better.

The whole Con cult has been rocked from top to bottom. The Death Machine is running around in circles, as the voices in Harper's head scream out their jumbled orders. They're now so desperate they're becoming a parody of themselves. And making it up as they go along.

Which is exactly the state we want them to be in with an election on the horizon.

Yup. Great Leader set out to kill the messenger, and/or muzzle the truth.

But the truth would not lie down with him.

And finally neither did the sheep.

And in the final act of his sordid reign, our ghastly Big Brother ended up revealing his true colours.

And only hurting or honking himself...

watch for 1000 foot projections on national monuments before this one is over
i wonder if they even realize the political history this imaging references?

    1. hi lungta...yes I was struck by that image, and I too wonder whether they are aware of what kind of political history they are reminding us about. But they are a cult, they do worship their Great Leader, and they are flirting with fascism. So maybe they're just doing what comes naturally...

  2. What Steve fails to realize is that he and his con clown show are the real terrorist threat to Canada and more and more Canadians are waking up to that FACT.

    1. hi mogs...I like to think that more and more Canadians are realizing that Harper is a greater threat to this country than any ISIS blowhards or any wannabe Jihadi losers. Because if Canadians allow themselves to be scared, and don't see the looming threat, this country will truly be in terrible trouble...

  3. To defeat Harper "we are going to need bigger flag" Liz May should start dressing in a flag suit, just to mock Dear Leader without risking what the Dippers and Libs would.

    1. hi Steve...I think Elizabeth May is too dignified to do that, but we must all mock his delusions as hard as we can. For it is one of the best ways to defuse fear, and we need fear like we need a hole in the head....

I used to walk with my dog in the woods. Occasionally, we come upon an animal, like a fox, and my dog would chase it into a corner of some kind - a small cave in a rock outcrop. I would pull the dog out of the way and look into the cave. At cave's end was a trapped animal, hissing and spitting and displaying dangerous teeth. That always scared the crap out of me. It was the real thing. I would leash my dog and pull him away to allow the animal to escape.

That's how I see Harper now - a trapped animal in a rock outcrop. And he has done so much damage to the landscape, the country, that I think Canadians should forget the leash and let the dog complete its instinctual job.

    1. hi anon...I think your analogy is right on. He is trapped by his own incompetence, he is desperate, and that makes his even more dangerous. But hold back the hounds, we can defeat him ourselves, and drive him back to his dark hole...

  5. You have to wonder if some genius in the PMO thought this little brainstorm would be effective..just like the movie....a filmed version of Emperor Steve, wow, Hitler would have been impressed...

    1. hi mizdarlin...I have no idea what they were thinking, as I said in my post they have become a parody of themselves. And though I like to think that I know the PMO better than most, I can't decide whether it's just incompetence, or whether they're simply out out of control. But one thing is for sure. They are desperate, and they are ruthless, so they are capable of ANYTHING...

I keep having memories of Oliver calling folks who resisted the pipelines terrorists. If this bill ever passes then we should all remember what happened in Denmark when the Nazis ordered the Jews to wear yellow armbands. If anyone is arrested or jailed wrongly then all of those thousands and thousands who do not agree with this bill should act accordingly.

    1. hi anon...yes that's one of the biggest problems with the Con regime's new terror laws. They have called people like environmentalists terrorists, they maintain a long list of enemies, and their leader is certifiably crazy. So the simply cannot be trusted to defend our freedoms. It's really as simple and as scary as that...

Interesting that it was The Tyee that reported this story even though Laura Payton works at the CBC. No word at all from the CBC or any of the other MSM. Recall that in the case of Dear Leader hiding in the closet, there was also no word about it from the CBC although the other papers were reporting it. Took the CBC a week and then it was to report Closet Leader's apology to his caucus. This should open the eyes of those who still think the CBC is still worth saving.

    1. I think it would be easy for Mr. Lacroix? to deny the few employees he has left the opportunity to report it on CBC News programs!

    2. The report was likely not allowed on the CBC News by Mr. Lacroix, The King of the CBC!

    3. hi anon...you make a good point, why didn't the CBC and other media report the story. My guess is because they thought the story would be too much about them. When in fact it tells us some things we really need to know about the Con regime. However I wouldn't be too hard on the CBC, it still has some very good reporters, but its management has been terrified by the Cons so much they are practically paralyzed, like a small animal caught in the gaze of a cobra...

    4. hi Gentleman James...the decision would have been made a a lower level than Lacroix, but he is the Con leader and his managers and some editors are only too anxious to please him...

  9. Tasha Kheiriddin is giving us a preview of the Con's "message framing" leading into the election: whether our economy is good or bad, whether our dollar is high or low, Harper is our man.

But at election time, unless the opposition can present a credible Plan B, enough voters may be tempted to stick with the devil they know, rather than risk charting a new course in a low-dollar world.

    1. hi David...Tasha Kheiriddin has been pleasantly surprising me lately. She comes from the libertarian branch of the Con conspiracy, via a right wing institute in Montreal. So maybe her libertarian instincts are overwhelming her Ayn Rand tendencies, and what she says is true. The opposition is going to have to be very forceful and very smart, or many Canadians might indeed stick with the devil they know, and that would just finish off this country...

the media ought to be very afraid of the "anti-terror" legislation. More than a few could wind up arrested and put in jail. they might want to get out in front of this one because once this leg. is passed and they disagree with "warrior leader/hide in the closet" P.M. or any of his agents, they could be in jail.

This leg. can be used in any number of ways. It could be used against people who commit crimes, not anything to do with "terror" as we have traditionally thought about it, but say a riot, such as we had in B.C. Those people under the new legislation could be charged with terrorism. Think about it. Your kid winds up in a riot and instead of being charged with stealing, breaking windows, burning cars, they are charged with terrorism. Don't think it can't happen? Just wait and see what stevie boy does with this legislation. Remember this is not, in my opinion, a man who plays with a full deck. This is a man who leads a party which a few years ago was referring to environmentalists as terrorists, so welcome to a protest against a pipeline and being charged with terrorism.
