Stephen Harper and the Great War on the Economy
As we all know, Stephen Harper would rather talk about his Great War on the Jihadi Conspiracy.
Try to brainwash us into believing that only he can save us from a terrorist attack, even as he does his best to provoke one.
But although that is alarming, I'm sure most Canadians are probably more worried about his Great War on the Economy. And what it's done to our poor loonie.
And with good reason.
The Canadian dollar will sink as low as 60 U.S. cents with little to drive the economy after oil’s collapse, according to a growing number forecasters who are reducing their targets for the currency.
“There’s going to need to be even more Canadian dollar weakness than people expect because of the significant loss of competitiveness,” Evan Brown, an analyst with Morgan Stanley, said by phone from New York.
Who wants to see their net worth shrinking, day by day, hour by hour? Or worry about how many Harper pesos they're going to have to take on any (short) vacation. Or how much they're going to have to pay for a California lettuce, or anything from anywhere.
Who wants to see all those seniors on fixed incomes getting poorer and hungrier?
Or hear Stephen Harper brag about how he's a Great Economist Leader.
After putting all our eggs in one oily basket, and leaving the economy in this state:
With consumer debt loads at a record high, manufacturing hobbled by the surge in the loonie to parity with its U.S. peer in the past decade and energy producers cutting investment and jobs, there are few growth drivers left in the economy, analysts say. Employment in manufacturing remains near the record low it reached during the 2009 recession, far from a peak in 2002, when the currency bottomed last time.
And the good news? He can try to distract Canadians with his Great War on Terror, but you can't scare people out of not feeling poorer.
And it will hurt him big time in the next election.
Which because he won't want to wait too long to see how bad it can get, or how low the loonie will fall, will probably come sooner rather than later.
For just like all those groundhogs out there yesterday, who were predicting a long cold winter.
He surely must know which way the wind is blowing...
And know that time is his enemy.
Which is why he's looking so desperate...
And sounding like a maniac, who only wants to talk about WAR.
But who can blame him eh?
He can try to run away from the economy, and what his oily obsession has done to it.
But it will haunt him all the way to the next election.
And it will help destroy him...

There was a rumour reported that Kevin Rudd, the foolish ex-PM from Australia would like John Baird to help reorganize WHO. Yes, that WHO. Arrggghhh! Think of what harm he could do to WHO with his dismissive attitude to the less fortunate and those who do not share his ideology and neo con beliefs. Would he refuse to help the Palestinians if something broke out there. Would he refuse to be involved if disease broke out among people in the area controlled by Isis. Is that what the world needs? Sara-Anne Peterson I couldn't seem to put this comment on the other blog post.
ReplyDeletehi Sara-Anne...Rudd and Baird running WHO is indeed a frightening thought. I have no idea how Rudd got his job, but having Baird on board would make things even worse. I can only hope that sanity will prevail, and Baird ends up on Bay Street where he has many close friends, and will no doubt be able to feather his nest...
DeleteTwo steps forward and one step back! Good thing I received an increase in my CPP, or I would really be in a pickle!
ReplyDeletehi Kathleen...that's good news. The CPP is not enough to support people in their old age, and I am supporting the premiers who want to boost it or provide an additional pension program. A country that cannot provide for its seniors is not much of a country...
DeleteHarper is a terrorist. What else can you conclude after the introduction of his fearful, Orwellian spying legislation? Indeed, its blatant promotion of fear will probably aide the recruiting goals of the terrorists and himself.
ReplyDeletehi Stew...I know of no man who has done more damage to Canada and its values. And yes he is trying to terrorize this country for crass political purposes. Even if he exposes us to a terrorist attack brought about by his actions and his big mouth...
