Stephen Harper, the Terrorist Menace, and the Web of Deception
One thing I learned long ago is that if you want to know what Stephen Harper is really up to, you can't just cover one story and move on, like so many other bloggers like to do.
You have to put them all together like a jig saw puzzle, or the strands of a monstrous spider's web, to understand what sinister plan he is stealthily spinning.
Understand for example, that in the case of the Great Terrorist Menace that he is trying to whip up to try to scare Canadians into voting for him, he is spinning a giant web of DECEPTION.
For let's start at the beginning, in this parking lot in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, where last October a 25-year-old loser named Martin Rouleau ran over and killed the Canadian soldier Patrice Vincent.
And only an hour later, and even before the local police had finished their preliminary investigation, the PMO was already calling it a "terrorist attack."
Stephen Harper also called it that in Parliament that afternoon, again without evidence.
But was quickly backed up by the RCMP who said they knew Rouleau, and had been following him, although obviously not closely enough.
And the very next day the Con Death Machine did fire off this attack ad in the general direction of Justin Trudeau...
Which made it only too clear that Harper and his sinister cult intended to use the tragedy for crass political purposes.
And then the next day came the attack on Parliament Hill, by the mentally ill drug addict Michael Zehaf-Bibeau.
Which almost before he emerged from his sweaty closet, Stephen Harper was calling a terrorist attack by the dark forces of ISIS.
Declaring that Canada itself was under attack, and spouting off like this.
Fellow Canadians, in the days to come, we will learn more about the terrorist and any accomplices he may have had, but this week’s events are a grim reminder that Canada is not immune to the types of terrorist attacks we have seen elsewhere around the world.
But let there be no misunderstanding: we will not be intimidated. Canada will never be intimidated.
Only to be backed up to a degree a few days later by the RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson, who claimed that Zehaf-Bibeau had been influenced by a "radical ideology."
But strangely enough has never backed up that allegation, and is still refusing to release a video the dead gunman made, so we can judge whether he was a real terrorist or a raving maniac.
And then all was silent and dark until just before Christmas, when in a year-end interview with the TVA network, Harper once again raised the spectre of a terrorist conspiracy.
By claiming the two killers may not have acted alone.
"It's true that it was only a single attacker, but it's not necessarily the case that it's only one guy," Harper told host Pierre Bruneau.
"It's possible that there were other people who were around these men. And there's been an arrest in Montreal, as we've already announced."
Based on this flimsy thread of evidence.
Harper was referring to the recent arrest of a 15-year-old boy who had allegedly robbed a convenience store in order to participate in terrorist activities. The youth had allegedly been in contact with Couture-Rouleau through Facebook.
A tenuous connection to a troubled teenager, who had no passport so he couldn't leave the country, had only a knife as a weapon, and had been reported to the police by his own father, for his disturbing internet fantasies.
And then when that one went nowhere, there was silence again, until the hideous slaughter in Paris.
When as we know the Cons were once again quick to play cheap politics with tragedy...
And Great Closet Leader was once again bellowing about an international terrorist menace. And hilariously claiming we can count on him to ensure our safety AND protect our rights.
Which brings us to yesterday, when the Cons breathlessly claimed that ISIS had released a new video threatening Canada and other countries. Only to have that claim challenged or demolished by a Jihadi tape expert.
Rita Katz, the director of the Washington-based SITE intelligence group, said the video was comprised of old ISIL videos from August and September and it was not released by an ISIL media outlet or any of its media affiliated groups.
"This is one of several examples where law (enforcement) agencies with insufficient understanding of terrorist groups' online infrastructure make an incorrect interpretation and cause an unnecessary and false alarm," she said in an e-mail.
And what I find troubling is that once again the RCMP appears to be playing backup for the Cons...
RCMP Deputy Commissioner Mike Cabana also sent a note to officers on Saturday instructing them to exercise a heightened level of caution and vigilance. "Given the recent terror attacks in France and in Canada, this new threat should be taken seriously," Cabana wrote.
Because let's be clear, if the security services are helping the Cons foster a climate of fear, so Stephen Harper can scare Canadians into voting for him, and they can get the internet spying powers they want, we are already living in a police state.
You know, I am not one for conspiracy theories. I have a rational, scientifically trained mind, and I'm only as paranoid as I have to be to survive in Harperland. Where a little paranoia can be a higher state of consciousness.
But it should be clear that something is terribly wrong. And that we could be in terrible danger.
Great Spider Leader is obviously scuttling around desperately trying to weave a monstrous web of deception.
Trying to scare Canadians as much as possible, and as quickly as possible, so the Fear Factor can boost his polls, and he can call an early election...
And what is also clear, is that we need answers now, before that election.
And that neither we, nor our democracy, will be safe.
Until the day that depraved and dangerous fascist freak is finally removed from office...

I would like to see a big march in Canada like the one in Paris. What are the chances of this happening anytime soon?
ReplyDeletehi Kathleen...it's always difficult to get Canadians to march in the streets, even in summer. But I'm hoping that will change in the next few months. Because I've been on may marches (with my drum) and it is an exhilarating and empowering experience...
DeleteMy only fear is that the Con regime will spin another crime committed by a mentally ill Canadian to scare just enough voters to keep him in Ottawa. Our country cannot survive another term under the CPC.
ReplyDeletehi Christine...I share that fear, and I can't help feeling that Stephen Harper is praying for that to happen. Which is why we need to be able to define what is terrorism and what is the act of a mentally ill person. And also why we need the police to be totally transparent, and stop hiding things from Canadians...
DeleteSome obvious problems. First the March in Paris of leaders for freedom had both Netanyahoo and King Husane of Jordan. Both with blood on their hands when it comes to freedom of the press. Second the ISIS threat video was just a re run of what they had already posted. The message should be screw off, not panic now.
ReplyDeleteThird the Brits wanted Canada to join their rapid response force of 10,000 always ready to go. In a sensible move Harper declined. He should apply this logic to his rehtoric.
hi Steve...yes there have been quite a bit said in the British papers about all those leaders who marched for freedom in Paris, but don't respect democracy at home. As for Harper deciding not to join that rapid response force, I'd give him credit for that if I didn't think that the only reason is that he needs the money to try to buy the next election. But yes we never need firm resolve and cooler heads than we need now...
DeleteWhat I find deeply disturbing is if Harper thought we were in such danger after the first attack, then where was the extra security that would have prevented a second innocent soldier from being murdered and would have stopped Zehaf-Bibeau from getting anywhere near parliament? My theory is that while Harper was trying to whip up a frenzy of fear, he himself did not think the threat was real or he would have ordered the extra security that should have been in place. So while he's playing his partisan political games, an innocent man with an empty gun is murdered while guarding the most significant memorial to soldiers this country has. That is unforgivable.
ReplyDeleteZehaf-Bibeau then manages to enter the parliament buildings where the shootout began and Harper scurried to his closet. This all happened early in the work day, yet we didn't hear a peep out of Harper until 10 hours later. Why? My guess is he was so inconsolable he could not function. What a great fearless leader.
The only good thing about that day is we got to see the true Harper, the coward, the fake. You may fool some people but time will show that a man is defined by his actions, not his words.
hi anon...there are many disturbing things happening in this country, and you're right to point out that the Cons and the military should have taken steps to protect those in uniform from a second attack. Especially if they believed it was a real terrorist attack. And yes, for a man who likes to pose as a Great Strong Leader when he was tested, he did fail miserably...
Deletewhat wee old stevie slime fails to mention is the shooters in France, were born and raised in France. They weren't what you could really call a middle east jihadist. it might be more accurate to compare all of these shooters to the American shooters who go into a school, theatre and start shooting to kill. no one calls them "jihadists". No, they are just wack jobs killing people. It may work for P.M. stevie, hid in the closet, to portray these young people as jihadists, but that just plays into the hands of those who would want to advance their racist agendas.
ReplyDeleteWhile much was made of the marches in France and elsewhere, the press and the politicians did not say anything about the "nationalists" marching in France, Germany, England to simply protest the Muslim faith and for that matter anyone who wasn't more or less a WASP or something close to it.
The two Canadian "killers" were mentally unbalanced. Now if P.M. hide in the closet wants to go around saying they were terrorists, well it just demonstrates what a liar he is or very uninformed.
France is not an "integrated" society. The plight of Arabs/Muslims/person of colour in France is not so different from the plight of persons of colour in the U.S.A. or First Nations in Canada. Muslims and/or Arabs make up 10% of the French population, yet 60% of the prison population. Now where do you see those types of figures elsewhere: Canada, U.S.A.
If we want to talk about ISIS, the C.B.C. last evening, on the Passionate Eye had a great PBS documentary about the rise of ISIS. IT Pretty much comes down to the west once again interfering in the middle east and fucking up. Simple as that. Had Maliki not been supported by the Americans and their allies, who knows what might not have happened.
P.M. hide in the closet harper is desperate for an election issue, he thinks he has one. But if people think he can provide "safety" think again. As he erodes our democratic rights and appoints unsuitable judges, we will look back at his time in office as Canada's reign of terror. Remember this man uses Canada Revenue to audit his political opposition. His party used Robo calls and his right hand man, got convicted of crimes against the elections act. these are not people to trust with your future or your country.
Er, who is Harper's right hand man? He's a Party of One.
Deletehi e.a.f...one of the things I hate the most about Harper is that he tries to reduce every issue to a caricature, as if life was in black and white. He does it so he can play the demagogue, and turn everything into a wedge issue. But while it may suit his purposes it does us no favours. And when it comes to the threat of homegrown terrorism it does not make us safer...
DeleteYes e.a.f. Harper is the real terrorist.
ReplyDeletehi mogs...yup. Terrorists may cause death and destruction, and a lot of pain and fear. But they are just a handful, they are cowardly and weak, and they can't destroy a country. To suggest they can is to give the too much credit. While Harper on the other hand is quite capable of destroying a country and its values so that's why I would call him a terrorist...
DeleteMe too obviously and now Harper's henchmen in BC want to audit me because I am outspoken go figure. I have no money and only own household stuff that I require. They can't take that away from me unless their plan is making me "homeless" maybe? But I'll fight them tooth and nail...
DeleteThe Harper bombing campaign is psycho Steve said Barrack Obama asked him to join the US bombing campaign against ISIS. The next day Obama simply called Steve a liar he was never invited it was Steve's own dog and pony show.
Now here is what Iraq's air bombing cost Canadians:
https://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/canada-politics/airstrikes-over-iraq-cost-canadian-taxpayers-90-174955953.html
I read somewhere I'll try find the link but Harper's war chickenhearted campaign in Syria is costing us Canadians over $90,000.00 per hour. That is for the F-18 fighter/bomber plus a huge flying refueling tanker and of course let us not forget armament. And certainly is not making us any friends whatsoever except Steve's favorite lap dog the Israeli state of Jewish Hebrew and radical Zionists. I don't like Steve he is literally fucking up Canada. Excuse my foul language but Steve pisses me off in all his useless endeavors...
Yo bro.
DeleteThe sky is falling, quick . . . run for the closet.
ReplyDeletehi sassy...not Harper's closet I hope. I have nightmares about having to share an elevator with him, but that would be the limit.... ;)
DeleteGiven that very few (if any) scientists, First Nations, veterans, etc. will be voting Con, Harper's only card to play in the upcoming election campaign will be the "I'll keep you safe!" card.
ReplyDeleteAnd if during the election campaign there's another guy like Zehaf-Bibeau out there who starts a shooting spree, Harper will just modify his mantra and say: "Still vote for me, or there will be more 'jihadis' attacks if Trudeau or Mulcair become Prime Minister!"
Harper said the other day: “The fact of the matter is this, ladies and gentleman: The international jihadist movement has declared war. They have declared war on anybody who does not think and act exactly as they wish they would think and act. They have declared war and are already executing it on a massive scale on a whole range of countries with which they are in contact."
Note that Harper used the word "jihadis", a religious word, rather than the secular word "terrorists", which plays to his base.
hi David...yes I have noticed his language, which as you say plays to his base. In fact, at one point he was sounding so much like a tea bagger, I wouldn't be surprised if even he couldn't believe he could say it and get away with it....
