Stephen Harper's Insane and Treasonous FIPA Deal

I've already written what I think about Stephen Harper's sellout trade deal with China.

I've called it the worst deal this country has ever signed. An act of treachery if ever there was one.

But even that isn't enough. For what can you say about a document that even the conservative columnist Diane Francis has called the worse deal since the one Neville Chamberlain made with Hitler.

"The Tories, backed by a naive Canadian Chamber of Commerce and a handful of big, conflicted business interests, have demonstrated the worst negotiating skills since Neville Chamberlain.

"Ottawa capitulated to China on everything. The deal, using a hockey metaphor, allows only a select few to play on Team Canada on a small patch of ice in China and to be fouled, without remedies or referees. By contrast, Team China can play anywhere on Canadian ice, can appeal referee calls it dislikes and negotiate compensation for damages while in the penalty box behind closed doors.

"The terms agreed to by Ottawa are unprecedented and would be laughed out of Britain, Brussels, Canberra or Washington. Beijing has negotiated a heads-I-win-tails-Canada-loses deal."

And why are they rushing to sign it without waiting to see if a First Nation's court challenge that could have ruled it unconstitutional?

So Harper can please the Chinese government before his upcoming visit to that country.

"The decision to ratify the long-delayed agreement comes just a few months before the prime minister leaves for his third visit to China. The prime minister will be back in Beijing in November for the APEC summit. China has been urging Canada to ratify FIPA, and this would likely have been a contentious issue during that trip if the Harper government still had not acted."

To continue his relentless pursuit of the ethnic vote.

And what makes it even more insane is that if the idea is that a rising tide raises all boats.

This deal could take us down with the Chinese.

“Meltdown” is too strong an adjective for a Chinese economy that is still growing at more than six per cent annually at the very least. At the same time, it’s clear that the country’s credit-driven growth model is wobbling badly, taking commodity prices and commodity-related currency values, including the loonie, lower.

The news is bad enough to motivate Business Insider to title their summary, “China reported a ton of economic data this weekend, and all of it was bad.”

But then why should anybody be surprised? When from the Nexen sellout, to the FIPA deal. From the foreign workers scandal to the Keystone pipeline.

Stephen Harper has ALWAYS acted like an agent of the totalitarian Chinese government...

A stooge of the old men in Beijing who would treat American like suckers, and Canadians like FOOLS.

And the good news? This deal is so bad even some Cons don't support it. Like Jason Kenney who despite tweeting like a bird about matters of loyalty and treason.

Hasn't tweeted ONE word about the FIPA deal, which is as treasonous as anything this traitor government has ever done.

And the even better news? We've just been handed another mighty weapon to use against the Cons in the next election.

In the coming days, the network that has emerged over the past two years to stop the ratification of the Canada-China FIPA will explore if there are still avenues available to stop the deal before it enters into force on Oct. 1. And ultimately, all Canadians will have the opportunity next October to express our opinion about what the Harper government did last Friday.

We will portray him as a man who sold Canada down the river for crass political gain.

And our Neville Chamberlain will pay for his treason...

  1. arrest the bastard for treason and be done with it.

Where does this leave Quebec and its distinct rights. What happens if China doesn't want to use French in Quebec. Perhaps Duffy and the domitrix could start talking now, instead of later. There might be enough to arrest the cons and have a new government by 1 Oct. If not we are so f..ked and we didn't even get kissed.

You might want to check The Galloping Beaver and read the scenario the blogger forcast for 2025. its possible and plausible.
