Is Stephen Harper's War on Marijuana Going Up in Smoke?
He has made the Great War on Marijuana the main weapon in his assault on Justin Trudeau.
Making it sound like Trudeau's plans to legalize weed would corrupt Canada's youth and turn us into a nation of junkies...
But sadly for Great Leader most Canadians don't seem to share his reactionary views.

The Children of Gaza and the Bestiality of Stephen Harper
It was an act of unspeakable barbarity. One that has been condemned by governments all over the world.
The US and UN have condemned the shelling of a school housing displaced civilians in Gaza. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the attack, which killed 16, was "outrageous".
"I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms. It is outrageous. It is unjustifiable, and it demands accountability and justice. "Nothing is more shameful than attacking sleeping children."
And defended only by those who carried it out, and by the monstrous beast Stephen Harper.

The Horror of Gaza and the Crimes of Stephen Harper
The situation in Gaza couldn't be bleaker or more horribly symbolic.
The brutal Israeli assault continues.
The lights have gone out.
Efforts to end the violence are going nowhere.
And Stephen Harper's Middle East policy couldn't be less helpful or more criminal.

Stephen Harper and the Baby Killers
He is a man who lost his moral compass a long time ago, if he ever had one.
He is a liar, a bully, a cheat, a grubby little dictator.
But at least he won't be able to pose as Mother Harper anymore. As he was doing just two months ago when he hosted this summit.
Not when he's ordered his stooges at Revenue Canada to go after organizations like Oxfam...
And of course, not when he is cheering on Benjamin Netanyahu and his ghastly baby killers.

Stephen Harper and the Never Ending War on Women
I always knew Stephen Harper was going to be a terrible Prime Minister, when somebody who knew him well told me he thought he owned the truth.
But I only realized how dangerous he was when the very first thing he did when he was elected was declare war on women.
By ordering his minions to erase the words "women's equality" from every document on the Status of Women.
And now he's done it again.

Stephen Harper and the Winds of Freedom
On a sunny afternoon in Edinburgh, in a city where the old and the new work together so well.
In a country with a record of resistance going back more than a thousand years.
Where the words "for freedom" can still excite a crowd.
Grubby old Harperland never seemed so far away.
Even if the stench of its grotesque leader still shames us in the eyes of the world.

Stephen Harper and the Perfect Storm that Will Defeat Him
He has yet to comment on the latest twist in the Duffy scandal. But in his shadowy bunker Stephen Harper must be feeling the heat.
For by now even he must realize that the writing is on the wall.
And that he could soon be sweating in a witness box.
Trying to explain under oath what Nigel Wright meant when he said that Harper had told him the deal to pay off Duffy was "good to go."
The leader of a tired, increasingly unpopular government with nowhere to go but down.
The Con Regime Goes After Pen Canada
We always knew he was the most disgusting bully this country has ever seen.
We knew that he was using Revenue Canada to try to intimidate his political opponents.
Or anyone who disagreed with the foul policies of his depraved regime.
And now that monstrous political thug is going after Pen Canada.

Stephen Harper and the Scandal that Will Destroy Him
Well there I was today in the north of Scotland, when I thought I saw a mysterious creature in this little bay.
At first I thought it was another kind of Nessie. Or a big fat dolphin.
But then I realized it wasn't eh?
It was only Moby Duff...
Getting ready to dive dive dive !!!! And take down Stephen Harper.

Scottish Independence and the Search for the New Left
OK. So it's probably not the best time to leave Canada. Not in the middle of that tragically short warm period we call summer in the Great White North.
But politically it's the dead season here, or even deader than usual.
While in Scotland where I'm going, it's very much alive.

The Con Apocalypse and the Humbling of Stephen Harper
As you may remember, I was deeply troubled by Stephen Harper's wild diatribe at the Calgary Stampede BBQ almost two weeks ago.
I couldn't decide whether he had inhaled the fumes of his own propaganda, like Rob Ford sucks on a crack pipe.
Or was lying compulsively. Again.
Or whether inflamed by the sight of all those cowboy hats, he had finally gone off the deep end.

Stephen Harper's Hugely Embarrassing Economic Problem
Well we all know how Stephen Harper likes to portray himself as a Great Economist Leader.
The brilliant leader with the best job record in the G7, or the best growth record since Jesus took five loaves and two fish, and fed five thousand.
And the ENVY of the world.
But sadly for him, Harper's story is also starting to smell a little fishy.
Or just plain fraudulent.

The Horror of Gaza and the Shame of the Harper Regime
It's taken me a few days to summon up the strength to write something, anything, about the horror in Gaza.
I just couldn't bring myself to look at the images of this latest war.
As rockets from Palestinian militants in Gaza continue to fly into Israel and Israel continues to strike hard at Gaza, the options for each side are hardening. Both sides are employing brinksmanship, carrying out their biggest raids yet this weekend and threatening much more to come.
Not when I'm still recovering from the images of the last one...

Stephen Harper and the Summer of Discontent
Golly. I only hope Stephen Harper was able to shield himself from the rays of last night's super moon.
Because in his agitated state I can only imagine the effect they might have had on him.
He desperately needs to relax, but how can he? When he's facing a long summer of discontent, he just can't get Justin Trudeau and the Chief Justice out of his mind.
And everywhere he looks the Cons are getting pounded.

Stephen Harper and the Losing Battle for Quebec
Well as you know, and as I mentioned the other day, Stephen Harper has set out to try to woo the province of Quebec.
Or at least the people in the relatively small region in and around Quebec City, where he is planning to hold a special cabinet meeting.
The rare cabinet meeting to be held outside Ottawa, which is in preparation for early September, will allow Mr. Harper to promote the role of Conservative Fathers of Confederation in protecting the rights of the provinces when Canada was founded in 1867.
Because in the rest of the province his amatory advances wouldn't stand a chance...
But so deranged and desperate is Great Leader, that he has started comparing himself to George-Étienne Cartier.
And claiming credit for vanquishing the SEPARATISTS !!!!

Stephen Harper and the Coming Storm
It's summer in Canada. The tragically short season when one should be allowed to forget about our grubby political scene, think about more beautiful things, and enjoy them while it lasts.
But this is Harperland, and there is a storm on the horizon.
Stephen Harper is on the move, and the next election campaign is about to begin in earnest.
With a barrage of propaganda.
The Bigot Rob Ford and the Homeless Gay Kids
OK. I know that only last night I strongly suggested that the time had come to ignore Rob Ford.
That since by now it has been clearly established that he is a crass bully, a vulgar misogynist, a low life thug, and a filthy bigot.
All that remained was to defeat him, humiliate him.
Or let nature takes its course...
If the Polar Bear God of the Great White North should choose to save us that way.
But I can't ignore this.

The Con Regime and the Never-Ending War on Veterans
I've written quite a few posts about the disgraceful way the Con regime treats our veterans.
And about the disgusting way their depraved leader claims to be standing up for our men and women in uniform.
God bless all of our men and women in uniform. #cdnpoli pic.twitter.com/xR8LvJBlgS
— Stephen Harper (@pmharper) June 10, 2014
While betraying our wounded soldiers so miserably.
Now read the tragic story of Colin Fitzgerald, war hero and PTSD survivor.
Rob Ford: The Beast, the Bully, and the Bigot
Well I think this much can safely be said about Rob Ford. You can send him off to a luxury rehab in Muskoka, where other millionaires like him live.
You can shoot him full of horse tranquilizer, so you can try to put him on a healthy diet, or load him onto a treadmill.
You can even keep him from hanging out with dangerous gangbangers...for a month.
But you can't take the bully out of that ghastly gorilla.

Stephen Harper, Omar Khadr, and the Con War On the Supreme Court
I wrote my first post about the case of Omar Khadr just over seven years ago. And since then I have written more than eighty others.
I have always considered the way that Canadian child soldier was treated to be one of the worst travesties of justice in the history of this country.
And I believe Stephen Harper's cruel treatment of that young Canadian to be an absolute abomination.
So you can imagine how I felt when I saw that Khadr had finally won a measure of justice.

Peter MacKay and the Outrageous Con Assault on the Supreme Court
As you may remember, the last time I wrote about Peter Dumbo MacKay, I thought he was in a gentle but fatal spiral, and heading for the ground, or his resignation, with satisfying speed.
After having made a complete sexist fool out of himself.
And for having made the Guinness Book of Dubious Records (for the mentally challenged) with the most number of bad bills rejected by the courts in the shortest period of time, for being riddled with elementary legal errors, and in contempt of the constitution.
But sadly I was wrong.

Stephen Harper and the Ill wind from Alberta
Well nobody at this beach on the Toronto Island today was complaining about an ill wind from the West.
Because it was warm and wild, and summer like life is so short and precious.
However, had they been in Calgary this weekend, they would have encountered another kind of wind.
Hot, foul, and fetid, whistling out of Stephen Harper's main orifice, and aimed squarely at Justin Trudeau.

Chris Alexander and the Monstrous Cruelty of the Harper Regime
As I have mentioned before, the story of Chris Alexander reminds me in some ways of the Oscar Wilde story The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Where the portrait of the bright, boyishly handsome diplomat, morphs into something monstrous.
After he sells his soul to the devil, or in his case Stephen Harper.
And sure enough, in the latest chapter of Chrissy's descent into darkness, the picture grows even uglier.

Stephen Harper and the Fatal Momentum of Justin Trudeau
Golly. Talk about the showdown at the Calgary Corral, or the redneck Stampede.
The aging gunslinger in the black hat, staring with his cold dead eyes at the young upstart in the white hat, who is preparing to humiliate him.
And while I can only imagine what was going through Stephen Harper's mind at the sight of his hated rival flaunting his growing popularity. Even in his beloved Alberta.
You can be sure it wasn't pretty eh?
Trying to be a good host and failing so miserably...

Kathleen Wynne, the Cons, and the Moody's Mob
I'm pretty sure not many people in Ontario, let alone the rest of Canada, took time off from their busy lives, or Summer, to watch Kathleen Wynne's Throne Speech today.
And neither did I eh?
Because summer is too precious, life is too short, and since I'm flying to Britain soon, I've got other things to worry about.
But it was an interesting declaration of faith in the power of putting people first.
Premier Kathleen Wynne has rolled out a progressive, energetic agenda in her first majority Speech from the Throne. Vowing to lead from the “activist centre,” her Liberals appear determined to honour their campaign pledges to put people first, and then some.
And what happens next could play a major role in the next federal section.

The Increasing Desperation of Stephen Harper
Lordy. Somebody call an exorcist. Stephen Harper is haunting my inner sanctum. I just can't get away from him.
As I told you the other day, I was shocked to find that flyer jammed in my front door.
And today my nightmare only grew worse.
When I found this unsolicited invitation in my twitter feed !!!!!
Which since Harperland and paranoia go so well together, had me wondering why am I on the Con voting list instead of their Enemy List? Why are they pretending they don't know where I live or don't read my e-mails?
And are they trying to ruin my reputation ??!@#!!!!
Until I realized that Harper is just DESPERATE.
Rob Ford and the Magnificent Example of Joe Killoran
Well I knew the shirtless jogger Joe Killoran had won his confrontation with Rob Ford yesterday from the moment it was over.
Because after that, as you can see in the photo, not even a gallon of horse tranquilizer could keep Robbie from peering nervously over his shoulder.
No doubt trying to remember what Boss Harper had told him to do when confronted by an ordinary citizen angrily demanding answers. Apart from having them arrested, or in Ford's case jumping on them.
But it was all in vain, the internet was unanimous, Joe was the winner.

The CBC Cuts and the Slow Dismantling of Canada
I don't know how many Canadians realize how badly Stephen Harper has wounded the CBC.
But from what I hear from a friend who works there, and who expects to be among the 2,000 employees who will soon lose their jobs, the wounds are practically mortal.
And the Cons could be gnawing on its bones in less than three years.
And if you want to know how much pain that is causing, all you have to do is read this sad letter.
Could This Be the Last Canada Day in Harperland?
Well I have to admit it couldn't have been a more perfect long weekend.
It finally feels like summer in The Great White North. The breeze on the lake is warm and sexy. The island boys have World Cup fever, and so do I.
The massive World Pride party ended with the most amazing rainbow I've ever seen.
Today was Canada Day. Another excuse to party like CRAZY !!!!
And all I can say after finally collapsing this evening is, I wouldn't want to live in any other country in the whole wide world. And how lucky I am.

The Day Rob Ford Was Confronted by a Topless Jogger
Well yesterday he came back from rehab, but refused to answer any questions from journalists.
All we got from him was a hollow apology, and a campaign speech.
But today Rob Ford was confronted by an ordinary citizen, who told him exactly what he thought of him.
Rob Ford's Hideous and Hollow Apology
It was of course a monstrous sight. Rob Ford telling the world, and I mean the world, I'm so sorry I've acted like a brutish bully, and I'm even more sorry I hurt myself.
"When I look back on some of the things I have said and some of the things I did when I was using, I am ashamed, embarrassed and humiliated," Ford told reporters at an invitation-only news conference Monday, when he returned to city hall after a two-month absence.
Rehab was HELL.
But I'm cured now and I STILL want to cling to power !!!!
