Stephen Harper and the Foul Assault on Beverley McLachlin

I knew he would go after the Supreme Court, now that he is so bitter and crazy desperate.

I knew that he would not be able to contain his anger, after losing five SCOC decisions in a row.

And that his rage would explode out of every orifice like vomit or diarrhoea.

But who knew him and his depraved Cons would stoop so low as to try to smear the Chief Justice?

The Prime Minister's Office late Thursday suggested that the chief justice of the Supreme Court tried inappropriately to intervene in the process to appoint Justice Marc Nadon, even though her advice came before Nadon's appointment was announced and ultimately would have saved the government an embarrassing defeat.

With the sleazy stooge Peter MacKay trying to make the classy Beverley McLachlin sound like a cheap lobbyist who tried to bend the ear of the Prime Minister...

Late Thursday, the Prime Minister's Office issued a statement saying MacKay informed Prime Minister Stephen Harper that taking a call from the chief justice would be "inadvisable and inappropriate. The prime minister agreed and did not take the call."

When she did no such thing:

There is nothing in the statement from McLachlin's office saying she wished to speak directly to Harper, and nothing in the statement from the PMO, written by spokesperson Jason MacDonald, that McLachlin in fact asked MacKay if she could speak to Harper.

She was only doing her duty and having her office point out to his office that Justice Marc Nadon, as a federal Court judge, was not eligible to be appointed to the Supreme Court.

And the Cons are only trying to smear her to try to cover-up the fact that the only reason they chose Nadon was because he was the only judge who agreed with their shameful treatment of the child soldier Omar Khadr.

And now they want to punish the Chief Justice, or bully her and the Supreme Court, for daring to disagree with them. As they have done to so many other decent Canadians.

MP Sean Casey, speaking for the Liberals, said the government attacks people who offer what he called "contrary" opinions. "That's the way these guys operate — when the only tool in your tool kit is a sledge hammer everything looks like a rock."

Because they are foul bullies, and they have no respect for the law. Or our democracy.

For even as the PMO was issuing a statement to try to smear McLachlin, their Cons were ramming their foul Unfair Elections Act through committee without proper debate.

In the end, the clock ran out. A committee tasked with combing through the government’s 244-page overhaul of its election law altogether cut off its debate, no further through the bill than Page 47.

Which tells you all you need to know about the Con regime. And why Stephen Harper hates the Supreme Court so much.

Because if that bastion of non-partisan decency and Canadian values wasn't there to uphold the law and the Constitution, he could do whatever he wanted to us.

For he is a depraved beast who would turn our country into a jungle or a pig pen.

And as you know, he would do ANYTHING to debase it...

And the good news?

That grubby little man is only debasing himself. The Supreme Court is far more popular than Great Leader, and about a million times more trusted.

It will not bend to his bullying and neither will we. So he will grow ever more frustrated and angry, or just plain CRAZY.

We shall use all of the above to portray him as a dangerous maniac, who is threatening our democracy.

And in the end his assault on our justice system will only help destroy him...

It feels like the 'Special Education' class has hijacked the Canadian student council.

That's exactly what it feels like.

    2. hi anon...it's actually worse than that, for the special education class would at least be human, while the Cons are both incompetent and evil...

  2. I'm too lazy and stupid to follow the Supreme Court closely. But McLachlin also wrote the minority opinion against Ted Opitz getting to keep his stolen seat in Etobicoke-Centre.

    1. hi thwap...I'm also too lazy and ignorant to follow the Supreme Court closely. But what I do know is that McLachlin has a stirling international reputation, and is not the kind of person who will be easily bullied. There is something about the court that seems to bring out the best in people, including the judges Harper appointed...

We see how vindictive Harper has been, against Sheila Fraser. Harper praised her right up to the stars when, she landed on the Liberals. When Sheila Fraser landed on the Conservatives? Harper is doing every underhanded tactic, to discredit Sheila Fraser.

Now Harper is maligning McLachlin, for doing her job. It is that Harper is rabid to be, supreme dictator of this country. Harper wants Canada as his, Thousand Year Fourth Reich.

What will it take to be rid of, the evil Harper and his henchmen? A mutiny?

    1. hi anon...I don't know if mutiny is the right word, but what would be really helpful would be a massive, peaceful, citizen's revolt. For it could put the brakes on his agenda, while we prepare to defeat him in the next election....

Harper is such a POS. Trying to come across as someone who on none other than Doofus MacKay's "advice" would never do anything so inappropriate. What a joke. We know your Modus Operandi Harper, when you don't get your way, you smear smear smear. You're a bully who's in way over your head. RESIGN!

    1. hi anon...I completely agree with you, the man is the foulest bully this country has ever seen. Even after all the years I have been following him closely, his sleazy behaviour still shocks me. I never could have imagined that such a nightmare could happen here, and I can't wait for the day it is over...

  5. The columnist says that Harper will get ever more frustrated and angry. Well I think he, and most of you commenters, make him look calm and stable. You guys are foaming at the mouth over nothing. Grow up. Even if you disagree with some or all of his policies, he is our elected Prime Minister and deserves respect. No conservative supporters were as anal to Chretien when he was in power. Did I say grow up?

Respect is earned not forced. Once you grow up, you will learn that in Canada we have free speech that lets us stand up to bullies like Harper.

Simon, I stand corrected- it's more like the suspended kids in charge of

building AND running the school. Nation-wide.

Respect? A man who has ZERO respect for...anyone? HA!

Really? You don't wanna fly that one...

  7. Leave it to Harpoon to deliberate mangle the timelime of all of this to smear a Chief Justice of the SCC in order to throw a bone to his nitwit base. This supposed 'phone call' by a well respected long serving Chief Justice would have occcured a year ago! But Steve is pissed NOW after successive SCC slapdowns rendering him looking like either a hater of Canadian Constitutional law, or ignorant as hell of it, and correctly the answer lies in between, and who gets his advice from Canada's dumbest Justince Minister ever, Peter 'Copter Mackay, who's certainly no constitutional fucken lawyer.

  8. So who's next on Harper's hit list? the Attorney-General or Queen Elizabeth?

    Hard to say.
