Stephen Harper and the Disgraceful Adventures of the Con Regime

As I've mentioned recently, I can't be sure whether Stephen Harper is now in a state of total denial, or totally broken by scandal, or just totally insane.

But either way it's deeply disturbing, and one does have to question whether he's fit to remain in office.

For there he was in the House of Commons today, still refusing to apologize for smearing the Chief Justice. Still claiming he did no wrong, still thinking he can walk away from the controversy.

Or as Aaron Wherry puts it more crudely, still delivering a flaming bag of dog poop.

And so, well, that’s probably it. The Prime Minister’s Office accused the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of doing something inappropriate, everyone got upset and then the government decided it didn’t really want to talk about it anymore aside from the Prime Minister’s vague allusions, Bob Dechert’s pleadings for a CBC panel and Peter MacKay’s protestation that the Chief Justice started it.

Perhaps we ultimately might look at it this way: so long as the Prime Minister and his government aren’t willing to deal with an issue seriously, there’s no reason for us to either. The governing equivalent of a flaming bag of dog poop.

Or acting like a total loser.

But of course he wasn't the only Con loser of the day, for there was Ol' Joe Oliver being exposed as yet another member of the Mile High Club, or the Challenger gang.

Federal cabinet minister Joe Oliver and three officials spent approximately $52,000 to take a taxpayer-funded government VIP Challenger jet to Paris for less than two days, government flight manifests show.

Along with Great Leader himself:

Harper took a Challenger jet on 113 trips between April 2011 and February 2014, at a cost of approximately $1.8 million, according to the flight manifests. There’s no breakdown of where he travelled, although most of the trips would have been in Canada.

For they would travel in the lap of luxury, even as they squeeze pennies out of veterans, kill thousands of government jobs in the name of austerity, and secretly sell the silver.

The House of Commons is quietly selling off the family silver – the parliamentary family’s silver, that is. iPolitics has learned that silver cutlery, trays and serving pieces used for years in Parliament’s posh Parliamentary Dining Room, were put up for auction on GCSurplus — the government’s equivalent of EBay. It is the same website the government uses to offload surplus filing cabinets and old desks.

Even though it belongs to the people of Canada, and even after this expensive gaffe.

In 2009, Rideau Hall sent boxes of silver off to GCSurplus, including silver flower baskets former staff revealed were on loan from Buckingham Palace, fine china teacups painted by well known Nova Scotian artist Alice Hagen and a gold trimmed table mirror.

After news reports alerted the government to the accidental sell off and then Heritage Minister James Moore gave the order to buy it back, the government ended up paying nearly $100,000 to recover historic antiques it sold off for less than $4,000.

Because they would sell the entire country if they could, they are Con clowns, and only a clown like Stephen Harper could make this ghastly appointment.

Former Ontario premier Mike Harris and Conservative Senator Raynell Andreychuk will lead the independent Canadian mission to observe the Ukrainian presidential election at the end of the month.

Harper said Harris will bring insights and expertise from the democratic process and executive leadership.

Can you believe it? Mike Harris the brutish thug, who left Ontario in ruins, sent to promote democracy in Ukraine, while Harper destroys it at home.

And why? So they can raise Harris' profile and remind the members of the Harris Nation, those who are not dead or senile, or smoking crack like their other Con hero Rob Ford.

That Tim Hudak is Mike's monster baby...

And Stephen Harper's little pet.

But yeah, that's Harperland eh?

And all I can say is, please remove these Con freaks from power as soon as is humanly possible. Because the very sight of them makes me want to VOMIT.

And since by now it takes a dumb beast to vote for them.

Please treat their rabid supporters responsibly...

  1. The motto of the day for this bunch is austerity for thee but not for me. It all comes down to a bloated sense of entitlement Simon and with a sociopath like steve at the helm, there are no limits to the bottomless pit of taxpayer money they will spend on themselves and their friends, the rest of us can go $%$% ourselves. I am disappointed that he didn't send Gord Campbell along for the taxpayer funded ride with Mike Harris though, they would make an awesome team.

    1. hi bcwaterboy...exactly, and the more money they spend the more austerity they need to impose on us. I see it as the outward evidence of the inner corruption of the Con regime. And the appointment of Mike Harris as even more evidence that Harper is following in the footsteps of Caligula, the character in the XXX rated Penthouse movie. His depravity knows no limits. I'm going to have to start a petition demanding that the two week official celebrations following Harper's defeat, be extended to a full month... ;)

    1. hi Demand Reason...yes that is an excellent summation of Stephen Harper's stealthy road to the New Jersusalem of the Koch brothers. The drift is unmistakable, the only question is how far will he go? And of course how far will Tim Hudak go, who is what the brothers would call a model candidate...

loved the sign at the end. Now that's a good one come election time. thank you!
While APTN is running documentaries about First Nations People still not being able to go live in their homes after the floods, Harper and his handouts are flying around like jet setters. Geez, even the Royal Family flies commercial air.

    1. hi e.a.f...I picked up the sign from the Facebook page of Occupy Canada. And it certainly reflects my feelings these days. Anybody who is still planning to vote for the Cons needs to explain themselves, or seek medical attention...

  6. If a third to half of all voters regularly watched even the first 10 minutes of Question Period on CPAC (QP is video archived), the Cons would be decimated in the 2015 election.

  7. Wow, what an eye opener when one starts looking around. Like WTF is up with the government declaring April 2nd Pope John Paul II Day with Bill C-266 http://www.parl.gc.ca/HousePublications/Publication.aspx?Language=E&Mode=1&DocId=6228162&File=4

Whatever happened to the separation of church and state?
