Stephen Harper and the Return of Bruce Carson
Well I think it's safe to say it's the last thing Stephen Harper needed, what with all his other scandals.
It must be a bit like Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Past.
But like it it or not old Brucie is BAAAACK !!!!
CBC News has learned the RCMP have seized banking records for Bruce Carson, a former senior adviser to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, amid their investigation into allegations he illegally lobbied his former government colleagues.
In court records CBC News retrieved Wednesday, the RCMP allege Carson used his connections to lobby on behalf of an organization called the Energy Policy Institute of Canada, or EPIC, for a national energy strategy.
And it can only be bad news for the Con regime. Not just because who knows how many of Lord Harper's friends and associates could be dragged into this case?
In November 2009, Carson emailed Wayne Wouters, the clerk of the Privy Council and Canada's most senior civil servant, about meeting with him. Carson also emailed the top civil servant at the Department of Natural Resources asking to meet with her. He also sent an email about meeting with Christian Paradis, the MP who in 2010 took over the natural resources portfolio in cabinet.
But also because it can only remind people once again of the kind of people Harper has appointed to the Senate.
Doug Black, whom Harper appointed a senator in January 2013, became president of EPIC, at a salary of $10,000 a month, the affidavit says.
Black responded to one of Carson's requests for money with praise. "No issue.... We are making progress and you are the secret sauce," Black wrote, according to the affidavit.
Saucy !!!!
As well as reminding them that Brucie was once Harper's most trusted advisor. And only three years ago was the star of a glittering party at 24 Sussex Drive.
Along with his....um....business partner.
Despite his outstanding record.
A former senior adviser to Prime Minister Stephen Harper has been charged with one count of influence peddling following an investigation by the RCMP.
Bruce Carson, 66, has a history of fraud convictions and had been facing accusations of influence peddling and illegal lobbying after it was alleged that he told Ottawa-based water purification company H20 Pros that he could use his connections to arrange deals with First Nations communities.
Which must surely make Canadians wonder whether King Harper has the reverse Midas touch...
Where everyone he touches ends up in COURT.
Or make them wonder what DO you have to do before you're disqualified from working in the PMO?
Bruce Carson was convicted on five counts of fraud three more than previously known, and received court-ordered psychiatric treatment before becoming one of Prime Minister Stephen Harper's closest advisers.
And his lawyer told The Canadian Press that Mr. Carson disclosed his entire criminal record during a security check that was required to become a senior staffer in the Prime Minister's Office.
And of course how far will he go to paint the tar sands green?
Gawd. I think I'll stop right there eh?
But I have a stack of files on Carson as thick as a telephone book, and you can be sure I'll be using them ALL.
Because in addition to all his other fatal flaws, I've always considered Harper to be the sleaziest and most criminal leader in modern Canadian history.
And as I've said many times before, I will not rest until he is defeated.
And ends up where he belongs....

never let it be said Canadian politics is boring. I do wonder thought what you will do when Harper/oil can is defeated I know, you'll get back to your life.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, there'll be plenty to get on the Liberals about.
Deletehi e.a.f....it's funny you should ask that, because I am very much looking forward to doing something different after the Cons are defeated. I'll still blog about politics, but I'll also write about a lot of other things that interest me. But my posts will be infrequent, and I'll probably spend more time making videos, or writing songs, that I do writing anything else....
Deletehi Omar....I'm sure there will be, but you know what? Somebody else can do that, because after ten years of political blogging against the Harper regime,I'm taking along holiday. Seb has a long list of sunny places where the only phones are conch shells, and the only thing I'm taking is my guitar, to serenade him as he paddles my dugout across the blue lagoon.... :)
DeleteYou more than deserve the rest, my friend.
DeleteTo the tune of John Lennon's "How Do You Sleep?":
ReplyDeleteSong For Stephen Harper
Why did you lose the seat at the UN?
Who inserted the word “not” with a pen?
Five times Bruce Carson convicted of fraud
Then secret clearance in a PMO job
How do you sleep?
Ah, how do you sleep at night?
