The Vatican and the Unholy Conclave

Well I see they have been filing into the Vatican getting ready to choose a new Pope.

Dozens of old men in red beanies.

And one in a fedora.

But before they start voting they want to know what is the Vatican HIDING? Who's REALLY pulling the strings?

And of course, knowing them eh? Who is being BLACKMAILED?

Cardinals said Monday they want to talk to Vatican managers about allegations of corruption and cronyism within the top levels of the Catholic Church before they elect the next pope, evidence that a scandal over leaked papal documents is casting a shadow over the conclave and setting up one of the most unpredictable papal elections in recent times.

Because in a mob story like this one, one never knows.

But at least the ghastly Cardinal Keith O'Brien, who once compared gay love to slavery, will be staying at home...

Because once he was Britain's Bigot of the Year eh? But now he's just another holy hypocrite.

The Scottish Roman Catholic church is facing a series of questions about the conduct of its former leader and its attacks on gay rights, after Cardinal Keith O'Brien admitted to a secret sexual life dating back decades.

Like his former slave spiritual master.

This man – clearly in some kind of love with Ratzinger (and vice-versa) will now be working for the new Pope as secretary in the day and spending the nights with the Pope Emeritus. This is not the Vatican. It’s Melrose Place.

Gawd. You know if the Catholic Church really wanted to renew itself, it should ask fifty young priests AND nuns to choose the next Pope. The kind of people who work with the poor and the sick, treat gay people with kindness and dignity. And believe in the quaint notion that Jesus is LOVE.

But since that's not going to happen, and so many of those old Cardinals were chosen by the withered hand of Pope Benny himself.

Expect this unholy conclave to be more like this bad movie...

And the final vote to be more like BINGO...

Oh boy, or as some say in gay, "Oh Mary."

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Decent Catholics deserve better.

But they don't stand a chance.

They don't have a prayer...

  1. Hi Simon,

The article in Le Devoir shows how unpopular arch-reactionary misogynist/homophobe/obscurantist Cardinal Ouellet is even among the Catolic pooh-bahs hereabouts in Québec!

Here are a couple of the stories on out-of-touch Oullet:

This article shows how unpopular he is, even within the Church!

Article bit too fawning and fulsome, but good quotes on the chasm between Ouellet and us evil heathen Québécois.

I was quipping at an other forum about how gorgeous Georg, being such an athlete, could save the Holy See some pocket change by cycling back and forth between the Vatican and Castel Gandolfo, (lovely place in the nearby Castelli Romani hills, about 20km away).

Yep, there are some uphill stretches towards Gandolfo, but hell, Georggie Boy is a Bavarian, he's used to hills.

I do hope this blatant hypocricy will discredit the "Firm". Though alas in South America and Africa, this may well mean a turn to even more fundie, misogynist and VIOLENTLY homophobic evangelical churches.
