Stephen and Omar: A Hate Story
I don't think I can ever really understand why Stephen Harper hates Omar Khadr so much. Because I'm not a psychiatrist. But it sure is a creepy Hate Story.
The Prime Minister with the cold dead eyes, and the Canadian kid in Guantanamo. Who is slowly going blind, and who just got some more bad news.
I used to think it was because Harper wanted to impress George Bush, and show him that he likes torture just as much as he does. Even though there was always more than enough evidence to show that Khadr was innocent.
But now I realize that Harper is just feeding his rabid Reform base, who howl with excitement at the pain of others...especially if they're brown,or gay,or women. And who hate the Supreme Court above all Canadian institutions.
Because when the Cons roll out the dickhead Pee Wee Poilievre...
Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre told reporters that "any decision to ask for Mr. Khadr’s return to Canada is a decision for the democratically elected government of Canada and not for the courts.”
You KNOW they are talking to the crazies... or the morons who think it's OK to torture a Canadian kid because they don't like his family.
And after today's hearing one thing is clear: the Cons have run out of arguments and are just extending Omar Khadr's agony, so their rabid base can scream like banshee bigots and keep funding their Perpetual War Fund.
Which makes Stephen Harper look like even more of a psycho. A sadistic freak who would play cheap politics with the life of a Canadian kid.
Who was first horribly wounded.
Then tortured.
Left to rot in a hell hole like Guantanamo.
And is now getting another raw deal.
In other words, a Canadian citizen who was captured as a child soldier in Afghanistan, who was dragged over there by his jihadist father, who has rotted without charge for years, will be afforded less fairness and due process than the man accused of masterminding the worst attack on innocent civilians in American history.
To repeat: Omar Khadr is a Canadian citizen.
Oh boy. I know why he's doing it, but why does Stephen Harper seem to enjoy torturing Omar Khadr so much? When he asked that CBC journalist whether she liked handcuffs I thought he was joking.
But now I really wonder.
In the name of human decency when will these foul pervert Cons finally be defeated?
Before they corrupt us all...

He made his bed let him sleep in it. The whole family should be stripped naked and let lose in the arctic.

ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty harsh sins-of-the-father type prescription for punishment though, man. I mean, should we *really* hold Laureen and the kids responsible for everything that asshole Stephen does?
This is far from sins of the father.
ReplyDeleteThe terrorism-related activities of other Khadr family members — wife, one of two daughters, three of four sons — complement their patriarch's record.
Only one son seems to not have gone into the family business.
Wife Maha Elsamnah took her then 14-year-old son Omar from Canada to Pakistan in 2001 and enrolled him for Al Qaeda training.
Daughter Zaynab, 23, was engaged to one terrorist and married, with Osama bin Laden himself present at the nuptials, a Qaeda member in 1999. Zaynab endorses the 9/11 atrocities and hopes her infant daughter will die fighting Americans.
Son Abdullah, 22, is a Qaeda fugitive constantly on the move to elude capture. Canadian intelligence states he ran a Qaeda training camp in Afghanistan during the Taliban period, something Abdullah denies.
Son Omar, 17, stands accused of hurling a grenade in July 2002, killing an American medic in Afghanistan. Omar lost sight in one eye in the fighting and is now a U.S. detainee in Guantánamo.
Son Abdul Karim, 14, half-paralyzed by wounds sustained in the October 2003 shoot-out that left his father dead, is presently prisoner in a Pakistani hospital.Fortunately, there is also one positive story:
Son Abdurahman, 21, reluctantly trained with Al Qaeda, was captured by coalition forces in November 2001 and agreed to work for the Central Intelligence Agency in Kabul, Guantánamo, and Bosnia. He returned to Canada in October 2003, where he denounced both extremism ("I want to be a good, strong, civilized, peaceful Muslim" ) and his family's terroristic ways.
*Sure he does. I wonder what he would be doing right now had he not gotten caught.
hi anonymous...actually he didn't make his bed. His crazy father dragged him off to Afghanistan around the age of twelve. That's the point. Being forced to become a child soldier is considered child abuse by the U.N. Protocols we signed, which say those kids should be rehabilitated not punished. Do you seriously think that I like his crazy family? When I hate all religious extremists.
ReplyDeleteBut according to everyone, including his guards, Omar Khadre is a decent young guy who prefers Disney comic books to religious writings and is alienated from his family because he rightfully blames them for what happened to him.
You know anonymous when you write about punishing who families you sound like one of those mad mullahs. Get a hold of yourself and remember we're supposed to be better than them...
hi 'Berto...No definitely not. I would never make fun of the kids because it's not their fault that Happy is their Pappy. But as for Laureen, I actually liked her until she arranged that piano concert. Now I can't forgive her... ;)

You actually believe people like this can be reformed where as I do not.
“When I hate all religious extremists.”
I don’t hate religious extremists. I just wish they would stop pushing there agenda on me.
“But according to everyone, including his guards, Omar Khadre is a decent young guy who prefers Disney comic books to religious writings and is alienated from his family because he rightfully blames them for what happened to him.”
And I am sure in every second cell of every prison the same could be said about many convicts. All of which given the chance would rape, rob and kill again. Is he a victim yes. Do I feel compassion for him yes. Do I every want him back in my society no.
“You know anonymous when you write about punishing who families you sound like one of those mad mullahs.”
Those mad mullahs would punish and kill just based on someone faith or lack of faith. I did not suggest we target a whole group of people and punish them because they are Muslim for example. I suggested a direct target with know tight ties to terrorism the Khadre family.
“Get a hold of yourself and remember we're supposed to be better than them...”
I have a very good hold of myself I’m no better then anyone else. Nor do I pretend to be. I have served my country on multiple continents both peace keeping and active combat. I have both been lead into battle and have lead men into battle. I have had the displeasure of looking into the eyes of a comrades and telling him it was going to okay knowing full well it was not going to be okay. I have had to write the dreaded letter and I have had to look widows in the eyes. I have fought for your freedom and even the freedom of others that should have been fighting for there own freedom. I have left a lot behind so that you can sleep safe at night.
You would have as much luck trying to turn a homosexual into a straight as you would have changing this family in any way shape of form. In either case it is a waste of energy to try to do either.
So true... and yet now he is coming back and Khadr can apply for parole after meeting a third of his sentence, according to Canadian law.
