Israeli Soldiers Reveal the Horror of Gaza

The Israeli government can dismiss what the world had to say about the bloodbath in Gaza.

But it can't ignore the words of its own soldiers.

"There was an order to free the [confined] families. The platoon commander set free the family and told them to turn right. A mother and two children didn't understand and turned left. [Officers] had forgotten to tell the sniper on the roof that they were being set free and that everything was okay and he should hold fire. You can say that he acted as he was supposed to, in accordance with the orders. The sniper saw a woman and children approaching him, past lines that no one was to be allowed to cross. He fired directly at them. I don't know if he fired at their legs but in the end he killed them."."

Now nobody can deny it was murder.

But here's the really frightening part.

Rabbis affiliated with the Israeli army urged troops heading into Gaza to reclaim what they said was God-given land and "get rid of the gentiles" - effectively turning the 22-day Israeli intervention into a religious war, according to the testimony of a soldier who fought in Gaza.

The poor little children of Gaza never had a chance.

I always knew the War on Gaza was madness.

But I thought it was just the generals and the politicians.

Now I understand why so many soldiers acted so brutally.

Now I understand EVERYTHING.

A T-shirt for infantry snipers bears the inscription "Better use Durex," next to a picture of a dead Palestinian baby, with his weeping mother and a teddy bear beside him. A sharpshooter's T-shirt from the Givati Brigade's Shaked battalion shows a pregnant Palestinian woman with a bull's-eye superimposed on her belly, with the slogan, in English, "1 shot, 2 kills." A "graduation" shirt for those who have completed another snipers course depicts a Palestinian baby, who grows into a combative boy and then an armed adult, with the inscription, "No matter how it begins, we'll put an end to it."

Now it's up to the Israelis to understand.

Occupation, war, racism and religious bigotry turn people into monsters.

When will they ever learn?

  4. I've never doubted that the war on Gaza was anything but ethnic cleasning. That "get rid of the gentiles" line is chilling. It's horrifying to think that the Israelis haven't learned from history.

  5. Hi anonymous...they can try calling me an anti-semite but it would bounce off me like water off a duck.
Because I have no hatred in my heart for any country in this world.
All I want is for Israelis and Palestinians to live together in peace for ever and ever.
But if we're ever going to get there we must overcome the horror and the hate. And it all starts with the TRUTH....

  8. Hi Gay Young Liberal...during the war I remember reading a report from an Israeli reservist who said that the atmosphere...as they waited to invade Gaza...was like a religious revival. And that the ranks were full of settlers and their sons.
I didn't pay attention at the time, but now I understand...
