Stephen Harper and his Macho Men in Uniforms
I must say I'm starting to worry about Stephen Harper. Have you noticed how he never misses ANY opportunity to surround himself with soldiers and police officers?
At first I thought this bizarre and very un-Canadian behaviour was harmless. Just another chubby little neocon nerd playing Warrior King...who gets his thrills hanging out with macho men in uniforms.
I was even going to suggest he should put on extra makeup and make a date with the Queen's Guards...
A good bottom is ALWAYS welcome.
But now I think it's more serious than that. I think Great Fat Chickenhawk Leader is starting to believe his own ridiculous propaganda. I think he's going off the deep end.
And starting to sound like a fascist.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper told an audience of military families today that his political opponents are drowning out the accomplishments of Canada’s soldiers in Afghanistan.
“Those soldiers did not receive the attention they deserved because their story has been eclipsed by quarrels in the House of Commons with respect to allegations about detainees."
Eclipsed by quarrels? Is that what he calls debates in the House of Commons? As if our democratic representatives don't have the right to speak out against torture. As if our soldiers over there are wearing the allegations, instead of his criminal and incompetent government.
As if Harper and his gung ho generals get to decide whether our doomed mission in Afghanistan is a "good" one.... or a killing ground that should be evacuated. Instead of our elected Parliament.
Hello Kandahar? We've got a problem...
But what really burns me up is that Harper had the nerve to repeat his filthy lie ...that if you don't support the mission you don't support the troops...at a Red Friday at CFB Petawawa.
The base where so many soldiers would still be alive if Harper hadn't extended the mission...to please his friend George Bush.
But then I always thought these Red Fridays were too American. And would just end up being used by chickenhawk politicians to call their own citizens traitors.
Not that I don't like dressing up for a cause.....Just check out the t-shirt I ordered today...
You see I care enough about soldiers.... and know enough about them..... to enjoy a gesture like this one.
Prince Harry’s army mates have created an “I’m Harry” t-shirt in a show of defiance at the insurgents who have reportedly put a price of £250 000 on his head.
And I support the men and women in the forces more than Stephen Harper ever could. Because some of them are my friends. And the guy I love the most used to be one. So I know that if you support them you don't ask them to die for nothing. You don't send them on a doomed mission.
And if for some hideous reason you do....and you finally recognize the obvious....that this mission was a terrible mistake. Then if you REALLY support our troops in Afghanistan. And you REALLY care about them.
Or care about Prince Harry and the Brits in Iraq...like I do.
You do what you can to get them the hell out of there.
And bring them home alive. Any less support than that.
Ain't worth a bloody thing....
Our neocon Stevie has always sought to emulate his idol, the Commander Guy. Everything he says or does constitute mimicry and parotting G.W. Bush and the American neocons.
ReplyDeleteThe Afghanistan War is but one continuous example of this.
Yep I have said that Harper is a fascist as well. And he has a penchant for guys in uniform
ReplyDelete"I'm Harry" -- That's hysterical. Like in that old movie Spartacus, "I'm Spartacus", "No, I'm Spartacus" etc.
ReplyDeleteI keep wondering if he has plans to try and step in as a replacement to Tony Blair. I also wonder if Bush would even notice.
ReplyDelete...whereas I'm just plain Hairy.
ReplyDeletecanadian survery was just done! The Nazis did that as well. They hunted down the jews. Harper will hunt down the gays. But not the lesbians because im sure he likes to watch em just like most heteros.
ReplyDeleteIn societies where cruelty and domination rule, we are capable of the most unspeakable acts of torture, repression and murder. In the streets of revolution-torn Africa, in torture chambers in South America, in the killing fields of Asia, the Gulags of the steppes, the European death camps and the Confederacy's cotton plantations we see refined and perfected barbarism and inhumanity.
ReplyDeleteSome say this is just human nature. And yet, and yet, in those few historical moments where freedom and prosperity and democracy are allowed to flourish and grow, we are startled by the near total absence of such plagues. No democracy has ever declared war on another. They may have endured hunger, but no true democracy has ever faced actual famine. Individual crime and atrocity have sadly not been banished, but bloodshed and massacre in the streets day after day are unimaginable. Entire communities and nations have been built and survive on deeply cherished ideals of liberty and freedom.
Blood...lots of spilled blood, death, destruction of the enemy is the object of war. It's not a job interview or speed dating. We're don't need to make a good impression. We need to kill as many of the enemy as we can, until they give up and do what we say.
ReplyDeleteThis is not a complicated theory, really. Why is it so difficult for you to comprehend?
