He lowered expectations so Justin could exceed them, and the contrast between his dark ways and Justin's sunny disposition has made him look even more like a leader whose time in office is way past due. The campaign is not complete and Harper still has a lot of funds and a few diversion tactics. In every election there are three parties fighting for the same 70 % of Canada's vote. They split the vote along party lines and in different ways in different regions. No matter how much strategic voting is listened to it still won't move many of the base party supporters (ie Liberals NDP and Greens) We know the Conservatives appeal to at least 29 to 30%. That is why the single party of the right is beating up the 3 parties who are competing for the left voters. Don't just read polls. There is more than a national number. There are incumbent MPs who have done good jobs, regional preferences. Polls do not measure these factors well. They are based on national averages and some regional polling. They do not say how to get rid of Harper. It is just not as simple as every one voting Liberal because they lead by 2% over the Conservatives. He has a lot of credible supporters and adviser's and he actually listens to them. As for the lack of infrastructure, He has a lot of support him from the business communities who support him and his policy's. He does take their advice. Which reflects his personality and his options advised to him. Mulcair will never become Canada's next Pm. IT clearly show's that in the polls. As For Vancouver etc. When Christi Clark was elected, the union members were so sure of a victory they sat home on their butts with their IPad, cameras etc. rather then come out and vote. Underestimate Trudeau at your own peril. It was heartening to see last night during a Liberal ad during a CFL game. It is one of the greatest political ads by any political party I have ever witnessed. It was almost inspiring. To those who decried the LPC's tepid and reactionary PR campaign for Ignatieff and subsequent silence while the CPC strikes blow after blow aimed at the Timmy's crowd on sporting events. When we arrived there in 1970, Every company was on strike behind the picket lines . No television because the company was also on strike. My husband worked in the Campbell River mill and it eventually shut down because of the unions. He had a job in a shop but that never occurred because of the union members. That in itself put Campbell River in dire straight. It is still having problems because of the mills. BTW, The city is still waiting for the tax dollars it cost to the city because of the closure and the tax dollars that were never paid to the city from the closeure of that mill. That is why I do not or ever will support the NDP ever again. In my riding, the Liberals are speaking out against strategic voting yet polls have them at 19%. Their candidate is good, however, there are a lot of Harper's base here like there are north of Toronto.A lot benefit from the income splitting. At 41% and with a slide of over 13 % the NDP candidate who have been very good for the riding is still ahead on the Conservative. However, it won't take much to tip the scale to have the Conservative take the seat in a 3 way race here as the Cons have strategically attacked the NDP and softly supported the Liberal in order to split the votes. With the NDP vote collapsing in Quebec, that vote is not going Liberal except in Montreal thus giving Harper access to at least15 more seats in Quebec. If the NDP collapses further in BC there are another 10 Conservative seats fort Harper.More in Alberta and more in Saskatchewan. There is a need to vote NDP as well as Liberal and we shall see what the Conservatives have in store for this week. I think Trudeau is very vulnerable to dirty tricks or a manufactured crisis and I don't for a minute put it past the Cons to create some incidents next week.I will not be optimistic unless and until Elections Canada declares the final vote tally and it reflects a Conservative loss. I'm from BC, where the NDP was considered a shoe in for election in 2013 by all pollsters after a series of bad liberal governments who increased the poverty level and dramatically cut services for education, for families, the elderly and women and first nations. They have seriously damaged the environment in BC as well. Somehow the Liberals were able to win a large majority. 49 seats to 35.This was despite all the polls calling for an NDP victory. The Liberal Party in BC is a coalition of Conservatives and Liberals who fight against the NDP. In fact, Harper sabotaged the tiny Conservative party in 2013 to prevent them from splitting the Liberal votes. At least 2 BC Liberals are running for the Conservatives in BC this election.Polling is no longer a reliable science and from the BC election we found out that the reliable polls were done by political parties and the Liberals knew in advance that they were taking the vote. This is because he "he who pays the piper calls the tune" and the pollsters make the bulk of their income from political parties. The media pay very little for their polls. These rich parties are busy polling their ridings, looking for the hot button issues and taking these issues to the door with their canvassers. They are also paying to get their voters to the polls and they are more efficient at getting all their support out and organizing their campaigns. Very American style in the background. Everybody had to get out and vote. If the Cons are able to throw stones at their opponents or even niqabs they will win this election by discouraging the vote and encouraging the concept that parties are all the same no matter who gets in the outcome will be the same.
