His violence had nothing to do with marijuana use, and I think it was very common male behaviour in places such as Liverpool.

A co-worker at the CSN (of all places!) was violent towards his wife and threatened to kill her after she left (all the while writing about action to achieve equal pay and treatment for women). But he was high on a cocktail of cocaine, booze (often hard liquor) and, well, machism. lagatta à montréalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02610410709900333230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23253782.post-65047662398336306292018-05-09T04:02:18.324-04:002018-05-09T04:02:18.324-04:00Hi Pierre...yes, I thought Scheer's comment ab...Hi Pierre...yes, I thought Scheer's comment about his father was a bit too cute to be believed, which is why I portrayed him as a big baby running from a bunch of hippies. I should add that I thought that was great, but my doctor pal thought it was appalling. And I'm glad that like me you didn't see anything that could make Quebecers want to vote for him. And his canard gaffe was embarrassing. And no I don't expect to see him at the gay pride parade. Which is just as well because if I did decide to go, seeing him would ruin it for me. Unless he was there with Jason Kenney and they were both dressed up like drag queens... ;)Simonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15309809679331128837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23253782.post-54854547164344766422018-05-08T19:23:17.707-04:002018-05-08T19:23:17.707-04:00In the mid 1960s kids in high school were smoking ...In the mid 1960s kids in high school were smoking it. Now some did get sent to jail for it and trafficking, but eventually all those people grew older, had careers, businesses, etc. and a lot still smoked pot. Its hard to put half the establishment in jail and its hard to tell who is who, since about the early 1980s.

Because of our climate a lot of it could be grown out doors. There is more than one former kid who tells stories about having mom look after their plants in the garden, kiln the 1960s, never aware it was that. West Vancouver had the best climate in Greater Vancouver for growing pot in the garden. And people wonder why we're a tad easier on it. Those were the adults back in the 1960s and 70s.

Never considered pot a problem. Ought to have been legalized, well never illegalized. At one time opium was legal in Victoria. One of the people who I knew remembered it as a child, o.k. it was way before WW II, but many drugs were at one time legal, it was only later things were made illegal. I have know people drunk beating up their families, doing violent things, but never on pot. I rest my case. e.a.f.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23253782.post-40285629633206934142018-05-08T12:27:21.423-04:002018-05-08T12:27:21.423-04:00I know nothing about a scandal, but those eyes loo...I know nothing about a scandal, but those eyes look bloodshot and extremely troubled. In May of 1963, Lennon and legendar...John Lennon?

In May of 1963, Lennon and legendary Beatles manager Brian Epstein took a very private trip together to sunny Barcelona. Rumors quickly started flying that the two might be having a bit of a romance, which infuriated Lennon. He finally exploded during Paul McCartney's 21st birthday party, when Bob Wooler, a friend of Lennon (and the one who introduced the Beatles to Epstein), jokingly teased Lennon by saying, "Come on, John, tell me about you and Brian. We all know." That's it. That's the whole quote.

John responded the only way a sensitive artist could: by brutally beating the man to a pulp.

While Wooler was "begging him to stop," Lennon kept punching, kicking, and beating him with a stick like he was a human pinata. Lennon later admitted that he was thinking, "I could kill this guy," and he said that it took him a while before he regained some clarity. In the meantime, Lennon had thoroughly messed up Wooler's face and rib cage, though he did make a full recovery.

Lennon admitted in a Playboy interview that when he was younger, he basically went around punching women: "I was a hitter. I couldn't express myself and I hit. I fought men and I hit women."

His attitude didn't change much when he hooked up with Yoko Ono and started shouting about peace. People gave Ono a lot of shit for following Lennon to band practices (a taboo in the music world known as "being a Yoko Ono"), but Ono only did that because Lennon demanded that she come out of fear she would leave him. He even made her go into the bathroom with him, afraid someone would snatch her away while she waited in the lobby. At the same time, he was openly unfaithful to her, just as he was to his first wife.

In the end, though, the biggest target of Lennon's cruelty was his son Julian. Lennon was absent for most of Julian's life, and the time he spent with him often led to yelling, insults, and very uncomfortable situations.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23253782.post-59380791424285348272018-05-08T09:19:33.034-04:002018-05-08T09:19:33.034-04:00Yeah, I saw this as a Québecois and had to laugh. ...Yeah, I saw this as a Québecois and had to laugh. I know I felt a great sense of relief when Scheer's segment was finally over. I find it frustrating to see them preparing to take power in Alberta and possibly Ontario, since any serious person can see that it will all end badly. And if Scheer should ever get to join them as Prime Minister, along with the stooge Moe in Saskatchewan, could have have disastrous consequences for the future of this country. The good news though is that this is almost certainly the last kick of the can for these Cons, the last twitch of a Con corpse, and the political equivalent of that old saying, it's always darkest before the dawn. That progressive dawn is coming and we are going to destroy all those who threaten our future...
