And I don't doubt that we need a better plan. The Chinese situation IS ridiculous. And you're right to bring up what it would really cost. But all that means to me is that the sooner we come up with a better global plan the better. I also agree that we should not let the global warming furor blind us to the need to deal with other problems. In fact, when I talk about a burning planet I also mean stuff like the fresh water crisis...and overfishing the seas.
I believe that everyone on the right and the left really wants to do that. So it troubles me when I see the religious fanatics of this world say it's not worth making an effort to try and save what is after all our heaven and our hell..

Hi Scout!

Once in the Yucatan I was going through these Mayan ruins when I came across a still unexcavated witch doctor's place...which you can recognize by an owl figure carved in the stone...and on one of the stelae was the date of 2012... I blamed all the bad things that happened to me the next year...on that mystical encounter...and there were a lot of them!! As for the environment I guess because I'm scientific and spiritual rather than religious...I think we in Canada are badly in need of some First Nation's wisdom to learn how to take care of the earth.
But you knew that!! :)Simonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15309809679331128837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23253782.post-65404364353519810622007-03-11T13:03:00.000-04:002007-03-11T13:03:00.000-04:00personally, i'm content to sit back and wait for 2...personally, i'm content to sit back and wait for 2012, the end of the world as we know it. the mayan and other indigenous prophecies that all line up with this make more sense then the greatest political novel ever written....the bible.

considering the bible is written from a patriarchal, oligarchal viewpoint and the new testament AFTER christ's death, it's an intereting exersize to look at it from the lens of the heirarchy:

what is the biggest threat to the patriarchy? mother clan ways. mother clan is gender equal, holisitc in it operates in circle , and if you want to get political much more towards a 'socialist' leaning.

so , who then would the anti-christ be if looking through the patriarchy's eyes??? why, someone who is a total threat to them, someone who will follow Mother Earth, and it may not just be one person, but a collective of people........yes sir, it could be the collective consciousness of spiritual people with one person considered 'at the helm', because hierarchy just can't fathom a whole group of people as not having a 'leader' (not being able to grasp that true leaders follow the people).

so whether wingnut politicos of any stripes, 'eco-nuts' or whatever, if you can't get over yourself and that you may be so ingrained by 'the system' that you can't see true democracy (the iroquois constitution, based on nature) you're only part of the problem.

the planet is burning all right....the hot air that's coming from so many has created an inferno. we can choose to live in that and get all heated up over endless debate, rhetoric and sophistry.......or we can live as our own sovereign selves alongside Nature and Her ways.

nice one, simon....'the harper code'. :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23253782.post-51202201380541537772007-03-10T16:36:00.000-05:002007-03-10T16:36:00.000-05:00Don't forget that all food fishes will be extinct ...Don't forget that all food fishes will be extinct from our oceans very shortly because of massive over fishing.
When the fuck is someone going to address that problem, it's only going to mean that half the world's population will starve to death.
I guess we will wait till the global warming scam is exposed, then the muti-billion dollar industry the enviro-nuts have created can just switch over.
I can't believe the fucking stupid wankers going for this wealth redistibuton scheme the UN has concocted, Do some fucking research
you stupid sheep, and you will se the scam for what it is.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23253782.post-32144281357573045372007-03-10T15:29:00.000-05:002007-03-10T15:29:00.000-05:00The planet isn't burning. It's almost amusing to hear the environuts mock Christians for believing in a future apocalypse while they themselves preach that one is happening right now.

I take a more prudent approach. I do not believe prophecies of impending doom, whether they come from the local crankpot preacher or from a bunch of UN hacks and progressive envirofreaks.

I'm not saying global warming isn't happening. It may be. But our understanding of it is rudimentary, and taking such immediate, costly action that the green crowd is recommending, without proper knowledge, is almost certainly going to do more harm than good. (See "biofuels" ethanol and palm oil for examples of that.)

China is going to be building 260 massive new coal burning plants in the next decade, and we're going to spend billions on alternative (i.e. inefficient) energy solutions? Besides forcing us to send even more jobs to China, that will accomplish what exactly?

I'm all in favour of reducing pollution, but we should be focusing on real noxious substances that do real harm to the environment. And that doesn't include CO2. For example, water pollution has been virtually ignored in this country since we "solved" the acid rain problem. The Great Lakes are once again facing MAJOR problems, not the least of which is invasive species. Habitat destruction of all kinds continues, without a peep from the envirojunkies and Kyoto cultists, who are too busy clamouring over each other for Al Gore's autograph to notice the damage that's happening in their own backyard.

Once cooler heads prevail, we can begin working on real solutions to real problems. For now, the global warming doomsday cult carries the day.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23253782.post-14061358061622456762007-03-10T02:15:00.000-05:002007-03-10T02:15:00.000-05:00The truth is if Harper is really falling for the g...The truth is if Harper is really falling for the global warming scam he will never get elected again.
When Canadians realize the eco-nuts crazy schemes will only lead to our country getting poorer and Russia and China getting richer,(not to mention us paying about ten bucks a gallon for gas), they will vote in the Liberals again.
The Lberals will say,"you don't understand, we always knew eet was a scam, do you sink eet is easy to make priorities."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
