Andrew Scheer and The Rebel Connection

I'm pretty sure that most Canadians know very little about Andrew Scheer, the new leader of the Cons, who likes to call himself "Harper with a smile."

They just see a friendly looking man who always has a smile on his face, even when he's talking about the recent death of his mother.

Or trying to stick a metaphorical knife into the back of Justin Trudeau.

But sadly, Scheer is not as nice as he appears to be. He's a dangerous religious fanatic who could threaten the rights of millions of Canadians.

Just don't expect our Con media to warn people about that, because they're too busy trying to make Ol' Smiley look like a nice guy, and a real leader.

With the Con Strangelove Tom Flanagan claiming that it will be hard for progressives to  portray Scheer as a villain.

Mr. Scheer is, in effect, a jollier version of Stephen Harper. Mr. Harper's unique combination of razor-sharp intellect, strategic cunning, and introverted personality made him easy to demonize, leading in extreme cases to HDS (Harper Derangement Syndrome).

Mr. Scheer, on the other hand, has a big smile almost constantly plastered on his face. Like Justin Trudeau, he's a young, affable family man. The Liberals and the Liberal-friendly media will certainly attack his policies, but it will be hard for them to paint him as a Machiavellian danger to democracy, as they depicted Mr. Harper.

And John Ivison cheerfully predicting that Scheer will be our next Prime Minister, even if he has to wait until 2023.

Most prime ministers who win a majority find themselves re-elected four years later. The Liberals could yet make a total hash of things and defeat themselves.

But, if he’s smart (and he is), Scheer will look to add to his seat count in 2019 and move in for the kill four years later, when he will be the grand old age of 44. Short of a meltdown in 2019, it is a fair bet to say that one day, Andrew Scheer will be prime minister of Canada.

When in fact Scheer is a dangerous religious fanatic and right-wing extremist, who should never be allowed anywhere near power...

Especially since he could be held hostage by the social conservatives who helped make him Con leader, and are now declaring victory.

But luckily, even as the Con media fluffed up Ol' Smiley yesterday, poor old David Akin got carried away and tweeted this:

Which allowed some in the Great Canadian Resistance to remind people that Hamish Marshall has another job.

As one of the directors of the Rebel News Network.

And that anyone who consorts with Ezra Levant, or profits from that hate mongering operation, can't be a nice guy either.

We need to investigate those Rebel ties.

We need to know whether Ezra Levant plans to use Scheer to try to get his paws on government...

We need to find out more about Ol' Smiley, and the religious fanatics who are threatening to hold him hostage.

So we can frame him quickly.

And wipe that fake smile off his face.

Before it's too late....

Ha! Wouldn't that be the day! Cut the CBC's funding and transfer it to The Rebel. What's next, reverse gay marriage?

Yup this is pretty terrifying stuff when you look at the alignment going on between the Russian Orthodox church and the Christian Right in the U.S. We need to expose these freaks.

Investigate the ties- got get'em, Simon.

"Smiley face plastered"...is so correct- fake f*ckers.

Ivison- still fluffin' the dogs, lo, these many years on.

Flanagan?? Who TF listens to him, anymore, and why does he even have a seat at any table, after his own...uhh, controversies?

Akin- being Akin. Still, shovin' it in his mouth, then shootin' it off...all at once. F*ckwits, the lot of 'em.

I think the game plan is pretty clear. So-called media agitation, speculation, adoration and obfuscation as demonstrated by all the parent corps south of the border.

This guy grins so much and so inappropriately that it's unnerving. At first I was thinking about Eddie Haskell but then I realized that it puts me more in mind of the look on the face of the little blond girl at the end of Fellini's "Toby Dammit" segment in "Spirits of the Dead".

The key thing here is that Rebel Media has someone in the corridors of power; thus it will be EXTREMELY important to make sure any information posted in the next few years is ACCURATE. I'm sure there will be all sorts of borderline libelous stuff coming out of Hamish and company so LPC (and other parties) will need to be extremely vigilant. I'm sure Messrs. Butts, Trudeau and Ms. Telford already are on the case, as are the NDP and Green...

Well, at least Trost didn't win. But still.......

Well, they had fat ass Jason Kenney but rumor has it here in Alberta that he is gay. I guess the crazy christians from the Harper regime would have boiled him in alberta oil rather than lead the party.

Harper Jr. will never win the next election, his ties to the religious right will out him, who wants a P.M. with the name of admiral scheer...oh I mean Andrew, admiral scheer was a Nazi pocket battleship in ww2.

A striking facial resemblance to a younger version of Harper, especially the gotcha smirk that sometimes emanates between smiles. Initially thought that the similarity might have stemmed from fishing in the same ancestral gene pool but that does not appear to be the case. Possibly just coincidence or perhaps the Reform-A-Cons have a preferential male image that exudes piety and righteousness.

Mr Scheer is by all appearances, as the Brits would say, a gormless twit. And he proved it by his victory speech which put me to sleep shortly after it began. When I awoke, the National was halfway through and yakking about something completely different.

Scheer reminds me of the frat boy who rushes round trying to be popular with the big men on campus without the slightest independent clue himself. A grinning rictus of non-possibilities. Oh look, here he is again on Global saying nothing with a smile.

In the case of the CPC, the big boys beyond the hollow shell of Max Bernier, a convert to libertarianism following the reading of a US political pamphlet and a half-hour's deep introspection, are people who'd like to order everyone about. Bark, bark LBGT bad, abortion bad, anything even slightly socially up to date bad, poor people bad - get a job, business great especially with no unions, the drive to re-privatize healthcare for fun and profit is noble humanity at its best, anything that doesn't smack of a top-down approach bad, people should obey orders at all times from their superiors and only the King James version of the Bible is accurate and then only if 1. Some Southern TV televangelist hand-waver is interpreting it, or 2. Historic RC screed of sending single priests who like choirboys out to keep the flock in check. And if you don't like it, a birching is in order for complaining at the lovely life you've been leading - here's a shovel, go and dig up natural resources for a better Canada.

Andrew Scheer, an empty canvas for the special interests intent on picking our pockets, even as they reduce government services with flimflam arguments like trickle-down theory. If you want to see what the reality of that is, visit New Brunswick where feudal barons run everything and note the richness on display all around you, while people play mock parliament in Fredericton and are not much more than a municipal council, and not a competent one at that.

Of course, then there's the other two major federal political parties. Equally useless but in different ways. I'm an equal opportunity disser, and not particularly impressed by mindless idolatry and pompom waving by those whose reason fails them and display a need to be part of a group of the likewise feeble-minded non-thinkers who suspend disbelief for a pretty face.

hi MC...I realize you are a Con supporter, but you should place yourself in the shoes of others. Gay people don't want a leader as crazy as Scheer, and his threat to kill off CBC News and presumably replace it with Lifesite News, would leave this country looking backward and diminished...

Simon said...

hi anon....you know a lot of people say that this is Canada so it couldn't happen here. But I say that we are living in extraordinarily dangerous times, where anything is possible...

Simon said...

hi liberalandlovingit....I do intend to try to find out more about this Rebel/Scheer connection. I think everybody should. The thought of the official opposition being under the influence of Levant and his gang of racists and neo nazis is a disturbing one indeed....

Simon said...

hi Glen....I don't know what their plan is or if they even have one. But when you hear even people like Scheer mouthing off Trump nonsense, I think we have every reason to be concerned. Because it is as you point out, so very familiar...

Simon said...

hi John...I'm afraid to admit that when confronted with someone who grins like that, it isn't very long before I'm also grinning like an oaf. I like friendly people. But when a religious fanatic grins like that, even when talking about his mother's death, I find it scary and deeply disturbing...

Simon said...

hi Pierre...I hate to imagine what might happen in the lead up to the next election, if the Rebel and the Cons work together to help spread fake news. So you're right we are going to need a truth central to keep them honest. Still, having said that, if you look at the big picture, I see the Cons crippling themselves. The times may be desperate but I can't see Canadians going for that kind of theocratic nonsense....

Simon said...

hi Way Way Up....well if you put it like that, we do have something to celebrate. But I must admit I was shocked to see that the social conservatives are still such a force to be reckoned with. I thought most of them were dead, so this is a bit of a zombie story. And just thinking that Scheer will have to reward Trost with some kind of position is almost nauseating. Still, with enemies like that how can we lose?

Simon said...

hi anon....yes, I'm sure Kenney was pulling strings for the social conservatives. He may be gay, but 48 years of chastity has to mean something... ;)

Simon said...

hi alamo joe....yes, I think you're right, and that is the good news. The more extreme the Cons, the less votes they will get. And let's not forget that if Scheer doesn't feed the beast, they will bite him and the Cons could tear themselves apart before the next election...

Simon said...

hi RT....as I said above, I'm very partial to smiley people, and usually end up grinning like an oaf. But I find Scheer's grin, to be a little sinister, and I fear where he might take his party. Or where it might take him. For it's fine to stir up the SoCon hornet's nest, but I think that unlike Harper he won't be able to use fear to control them. So after a short honeymoon I think things could become really interesting, as in wonderfully damaging... ;)

Simon said...

hi anon...yes, gormless twit is a good description. I don't know much about his background except that his dad is a Deacon, and Scheer worked for a while as a stockbroker. But whenever I hear him speak I find him to be pretty vacant. He has memorized some attack dog lines which he repeats like a robot, but I wonder how deep his little pond goes. Ad you're quite right, when you distill what he is saying he is just another shabby Con trying to make the right richer by making the poor poorer...

I cannot link- or I would be as well, Simon.
Please forgive my profanities, as we will be taming that down. As of now, and except occasionally- while speaking the language of whomever I'm dealing with- whenever it is required....
