The Horror of Harperland and the Arrival of Baby Freedom

Gawd. I was planning to go through all the posts I wrote this year, and write something about the deathly year of 2014.

So I could warn Baby 2015 what to expect, when he or she comes roaring through the door, with hope in its eyes. Into this dark Harperland, where hope goes to die.

But unfortunately although I thought I had written about 400 posts, which would have been hard enough to even skim through. I actually wrote more than 600.

So I almost immediately gave up.

Has Stephen Harper Shot Himself in the Foot?

Isn't it good to know that even as the Liberals and the NDP prepare for an early election.

Because they don't trust Stephen Harper.

Despite repeated Conservative assurances the next federal election will be in October, opposition parties remain skeptical and are preparing for an early campaign. Prime Minister Stephen Harper has said he has no plans for a vote before Oct. 19 – the date mandated by 2007 legislation that establishes the third Monday in October every four years as election day.

His biographer Lawrence Martin at least believes that our so-called political genius may have shot himself in the foot.

Stephen Harper and the Shabby Treatment of Our Seniors

It was just a small story but it really bothered me. And it made me fear for this country's future.

For just like I can't stand the way the brutish Harperite cult treats our veterans.

I cannot countenance living in a Canada where our seniors are treated like this.

For that's not just an assault on the health of old people, it's an assault on their dignity. It makes you wonder how many others are being treated that way.

And what I fear the most is that it's just a harbinger of worse things to come.

Building an Anti-Harper Movement and the Lesson of Scotland

In my last post I told you why I believe progressives need to build a mighty Canada-wide movement to ensure that Stephen Harper and his foul Con regime are defeated in the next election.

I said I believe that a movement would make our struggle look more like a sacred cause, than a mere electoral contest. And would almost certainly ensure that more Canadians turn out to vote, which would seal the fate of the Harper cult.

Because that's the last thing he wants.

And he also knows, like I do, that a movement is always more powerful than any political party.

And how do I know that?

Because I saw it with my own eyes in Scotland last summer.

Stephen Harper and the Movement That Could Destroy Him

Well he hasn't been seen in public for several days, since his scary year-end TV interview,  where not even four coats of pancake make-up could conceal the crazed look in his eyes.

Especially when he was asked about his terrifying ordeal in that closet.

Since then we've only seen him on that Paul Calandra video, playing Big Daddy, the new/nouveau kinder gentler leader of Harperland...

Still trying to make people believed he's changed.

And that he isn't lunging for another majority, like a trout goes after a fly, or a piranha goes after a human leg, because he wants to cling to power.

But only because Canada needs HIM, to change it beyond recognition.

Another Good Reason Why Rex Murphy Should be Fired

You might think that after all that happened at the CBC this year, Rex Murphy might know when to press the mute button.

You might think that with all those horrible stories about violence against women, that nasty Con dwarf might exhibit a smidgen of human decency.

But no, he'd rather use his last National Post column of the year to dump all over the feminist movement.

Stephen Harper and the Monstrous Legacy of the Con Regime

It will probably be years after Stephen Harper and his monstrous Con regime are finally driven from office, before we will be able to total up the damage they have done to this country.

And it will take me a couple of days to go through the more than 400 posts I have written this year chronicling their crimes against Canada, to try to decide which of those crimes deserve the longest prison sentences.

But this is a pretty good list of some of their most ghastly moments in the grim darkness of Harperland in the year 2014.

Stephen Harper and God Save Justin Trudeau

Ever since Justin Trudeau became Liberal leader Stephen Harper has been trying to portray him as less masculine than he is.

As a girly man, the one his supporters like to call Justine.

Even though as he recently demonstrated, by cowering in that closet, he's no manly man himself eh?

But now a movie is about to be released which although it's called God Save Justin Trudeau, might as well be called God Save Stephen Harper.

Stephen Harper's Horribly Tacky and Disturbing Christmas Message

Well I knew that Stephen Harper's Christmas Message was up against some tough competition.

And I knew that he would do his best to try to look as non threatening and non-partisan as the Queen, in his new role as Great Kinder Gentler Leader, the benevolent  ruler of Canada.

But unfortunately for him, he just couldn't pull it off. It wasn't even close. The Queen's show was at least classy, and suitably christmassy.

While Harper's Christmas Message was horribly tacky, profoundly pathetic, and deeply disturbing.

Has Stephen Harper's Bubble Finally Burst?

After so much bad news, after so many bad polls.

Or ones that defy reason.

The number of Canadians who believe the Conservative government is doing a good job of protecting the environment is inching upward, according to a recent poll – despite the federal government finding itself repeatedly under fire on environmental issues, and Canada remaining on track to fall substantially short of its Copenhagen greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.

And make you wonder what kind of crazy ignorant country we're living in.

Isn't it good to know that Stephen Harper's bubble may finally have burst?

What Christmas Means to Me. Again

It's Christmas Day, and although I'm an atheist, and I believe that our beautiful planet is our heaven and our hell.

And that it's up to us to decide what world we want to live in. Not up to some invisible deity or some bloodthirsty Godzilla.

And although I hate the shopping and the greed. And although I know it can be a sad and lonely time for many.

I was raised in the Christian tradition, I believe in the earthly message of Jesus the revolutionary, I share the vision of those fighting for a kinder, gentler world.

So I do love this time of the year.

Stephen Harper and the Never-ending War on Women

Well as we know he's trying to pose as a kinder, gentler leader. And as I pointed out in my last post, that phony act has given him a big boost in the polls.

But you can't put lipstick on a Con monster like Stephen Harper.

Because he simply can't help himself. And here he goes again.

Stephen Harper and the REAL Nightmare Before Christmas

Uh oh. It seems I might have been a bit hasty when I declared this to be The Con Nightmare Before Christmas.

Because although the Cons are just as ghastly as they were in that story, the monstrous Stephen Harper is now smiling, as only he can.

*Shudder*

And the real nightmare arrived YESTERDAY !!!

Why Stephen Harper's Porky Ads Threaten Our Democracy

We know that Stephen Harper is spending hundreds of millions of dollars of OUR money to try to brainwash us into thinking that he's a Great Leader.

We know that those porky ads are nothing but propaganda to try to bribe voters.

As this excerpt from his latest YouTube channel production, starring the oily Con man Joe Oliver, makes only too clear...

But what every Canadian also needs to know is that these ads are not just sleazy and immoral. They are also an assault on the rule of law.

Stephen Harper's Desperate and Horrible Coalition Nightmare

In my last two posts I told you why I believe that Stephen Harper and his monstrous Con regime may have to be brought down by a Great Canadian Coalition.

So Justin Trudeau, Tom Mulcair, and Elizabeth May and their most rabid partisan supporters should at the very least be thinking about it.

Because you can be sure that Stephen Harper is thinking a lot about it these days. It must be keeping him awake at night.

For he surely knows that unless he wins a majority in the next election it's game over.

The Coalition Idea, Tom Mulcair, and the Great Joe Cocker

In my last post I wrote about how I would welcome the idea of a coalition to bring down the Harper regime.

Which as usual, was greeted with the usual scepticism from some of my readers and friends. As if it came from Mars not Canada.

Then I saw that Tom Mulcair has said that he is at least open to the idea.

The “C word” many tire of or avoid altogether during election campaigns doesn’t scare the federal NDP leader.

While keeping the option on the table for 2015, the leader won’t yet commit to it, keeping his focus on the ultimate prize.

Which is all I want, because if you don't at least talk about the idea it will always seem to come from another planet.

Instead of being a legitimate political arrangement which is used all over the world, including these days in the British mother Parliament.

And then I saw that Joe Cocker had died.

And this song seemed to bring it all together...

What a great song, what a great singer.

And what a great idea...

With a little help from my friends, the idea of a coalition will never die.

With a little help from my friends, the great Joe Cocker will live for ever...

The Year Ahead and the Coalition Dream

It's a little too soon to take out my crystal ball and predict what's going to happen next year, like so many in the MSM are already doing.

Even though the big hollow ball in my neighbourhood seemed to think it knows, as I passed it on my way home last night.

But then homeless men like to smoke crack inside it, so it might have been them, and its predictions are probably as reliable as all those others.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if we do end up with a Liberal coalition government. Especially since even after all that has happened this year, nothing has really changed

Stephen Harper and the Hidden Story of the Anti-Gay Judge

The other day I wrote about how appalled I was to see that Stephen Harper, and his ghastly stooge Peter MacKay, had appointed an anti-gay judge.

A law professor named an Ontario judge this week wrote two years ago for a conservative, U.S.-based institute that the legalization of same-sex marriage in Canada has harmed religious freedom and free speech, and led to the “indoctrination” of children in public schools.

Who sounded like he had sprung from the bowels of bigot America.

But then I decided to find out more about Bradley Miller.

And now I'm even more DISGUSTED.

The War on Christmas is Over Somebody Tell Nina Grewal

Well I know it may be hard to believe, but it seems like that old Con favourite, the imaginary War on Christmas, is finally over.

The Fox News nutbar Bill O'Reilly has declared victory. Again.

"I won the 'War on Christmas!'" he said. "I've been doing this for about 10 years and this is the only year we have not had a store that commanded its employees not to say 'Merry Christmas.'" "It's over, we won," he proclaimed.

And this time he may actually be right.

Stephen Harper's Monstrous Propaganda War on Canadians

We know that Stephen Harper and his ghastly Con regime run the biggest propaganda machine this country has ever seen.

And that they have spent hundreds of millions of dollars trying to brainwash us with our own money.

But who knew they're also spending a fortune trying to pass off propaganda as NEWS?

The Ghastly Con Nightmare Before Christmas

Golly. When I think of the Cons reciting "Twas the Night Before Christmas" all I can think of is "The Nightmare before Christmas."

Because Christmas and the brutish Harperland were definitely not made for each other.

But believe it or not, the real version, is even SCARIER !!!!

Stephen Harper and his CRA Stormtroopers Prepare to Kill a Charity

For months Stephen Harper has been unleashing the stormtroopers from the Canadian Revenue Agency upon his many enemies.

They have been harassing environmental groups and other progressive charities, and trying to cripple them into submission.

But now it seems they have claimed their first victim, and are preparing to blast it out of existence.

Michael Harris REALLY Doesn't Like Peter Mansbridge

As I said in my last post, I wasn't impressed with the way Peter Mansbridge handled his year end interview with Stephen Harper.

I thought he stroked Great Crazy Leader with a feather, and failed to challenge his many lies, or ask the follow up questions that needed to be asked.

So the whole thing looked more like a cozy chat than an interview.

But I see that Michael Harris was even less impressed.

Stephen Harper's Crazy Carbon Tax problem

As I've been warning recently, Stephen Harper's mental state is clearly growing more unstable by the day.

The exhaustion of all those foreign photo-ops, combined with the shock of seeing his beloved Albertonia torpedoed by low oil prices, and his budget surplus going up in flames, has driven him to the brink.

And there is no better example of that than his wildly oscillating position on a carbon tax.

Just ten days ago he called one "crazy." Or CRAAAAAAAZY.

But in the CBC interview the other night, while being stroked with a feather by Peter Mansbridge, he all but called it a good idea.

Stephen Harper's New and Foul Assault on the Justice System

Well I guess Stephen Harper wasn't kidding. If the courts wouldn't kneel before him he would debase them into submission.

Not by simply soiling himself.

But by soiling the entire justice system as only he could.

By among other foul things appointing an Ontario judge who clearly doesn't believe in the equality of gay Canadians.

Stephen Harper's Scary Year End Horror Show

I tried to put it off as long as I could, I was having too much of a good time to spoil it.

Humming Christmas tunes, fixing one of my little robots, and playing with my neighbour's puppy.

But eventually I figured I better check out Peter Mansbridge's interview with Stephen Harper. And oh boy did that ruin my evening.

Because it was an absolute HORROR show.

Happy Birthday Chelsea Manning

It's been five years since the young American soldier now known as Chelsea Manning began downloading hundreds of thousands of Pentagon files.

And in the process not only revealed the horror, the brutality, and the hypocrisy of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the diplomatic world. But also the U.S. intelligence machine's most closely guarded secret.

That in order to spy on their enemies, they would now spy on us ALL.

The Day Stephen Harper Collided With Crude Reality

You could can see the strain in his face, he can't hide it anymore, even under all that pancake makeup.

He's still trying to pretend that those tanking oil prices won't affect his plans to try to buy the next election, or balance the budget.

Even though he recklessly blew the surplus before he even had one.

But it's just not working, and with every passing day he's sounding more and more delusional.

Albertonia Report: The Wild Hog Party Goes Down Squealing

It could only happen in Alberta, the land of cowboy Steve and not so Big Oil, Canada's Banana Republic.

Where the leader of the opposition, after attacking the Con government for five years, and trailing them in the polls by only five points.

Has suddenly decided that if you can't beat them, you should join them.

And is apparently leading half her Wild Hog Party back to the trough.

The Further Insane Adventures of Peter Dumbo Mackay

Once upon a time I thought that Peter MacKay was a fairly harmless Con buffoon, of limited intelligence, masquerading as a minister.

The happy idiot who was easily conned into selling the once proud Progressive Conservative party, and his soul, to Stephen Harper and his Reform rednecks.

The hopeless loser who shamelessly used his neighbour's dog to try to guilt out his ex-girlfriend Belinda Stronach...

For having had the good sense to break-up with him.

But now I'm starting to think that Dumbo MacKay is morphing into something far more sinister.

Stephen Harper, Tony Abbott, and the Great Terrorist Conspiracy

It all looks and sounds so familiar. A wild looking gunman terrorizes a cafe in Sydney, killing two people, and traumatizing a city and nation.

And even though police say there is no evidence the man was a real terrorist, the country's Prime Minister is quick to plant that idea in the minds of his people.

Stephen Harper and the Secrets of the Con Regime

He runs the most shadowy government in Canadian history. Where everything is either a secret or a talking point.

He likes to muzzle the truth. Or bury it.

Like his shameless minions have just been caught doing with this climate change report.

Is Stephen Harper's Golden Ride Finally Over?

The other day I told you that Stephen Harper's roller coaster rise in the polls appeared to have finally ended.

And today there is more evidence of that.

This poll from Ekos...

And this even more encouraging one from Forum.

Stephen Harper's Hugely Embarrassing Jewish Problem

The fuse has been burning ever since Benjamin Netanyahu set out to make Israel the nation-state of the Jewish people.

A controversial bill that officially defines Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people has been approved by cabinet despite warnings that the move risks undermining the country’s democratic character.

Opponents, including some cabinet ministers, said the new legislation defined reserved “national rights” for Jews only and not for its minorities, and rights groups condemned it as racist.

It's an issue that is bitterly dividing Israelis, and Jews all over the world.

But from Stephen Harper and his Con regime, who like to pose as Israel's best friends ever, there has been only silence.

What Would You Tell Stephen Harper If He Tried to Shake Your Hand?

It's a horrible thought, and it could only happen in a nightmare.

But what if you were wandering through a deathly dreamscape, and suddenly there was Stephen Harper, offering to shake your hand?

What WOULD you say to him?

And while that could never happen to me, because I'd rather cut off my hand than shake his, or run in the opposite direction, or moon him.

I have to say I think Gerald Caplan has a list of very good suggestions.

Who's the Real Immigration Minister Chris Alexander or Jason Kenney?

Ever since he was made a minister I've made it pretty clear what I think of Chris Alexander.

How he reminds of the character in The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Who after selling his soul to Stephen Harper, morphed from a promising young diplomat into a ghastly Con monster...

But who knew he was so incompetent?

Ezra Levant and Brian Lilley's Disastrous Freedom Tour

Well it was always going to be a freak show. Ezra Levant and Brian Lilley, the two Con clowns from Sun TV, on a so-called Free Speech Tour.

Spewing bigotry out of every orifice, and asking their faithful followers suckers to pay for the privilege of watching them live and in person.

But who knew it would be such a bust or such an execrable adventure?

Stephen Harper's Most Sad and Disappointing Christmas

Well it finally snowed where I live, as if to remind me that I'm still living in Canada, even in the ghastly darkness of Harperland.

The deathly place where the frozen bodies of the hopeless are stacked up like cord wood, or those kayaks.

But it's also beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

And although I can't remember a grimmer holiday season, with the world never looking more depressing and dangerous, and all the horrible stories in the news.

At least I'm comforted by the warm thought that this must be Stephen Harper's worst Christmas EVER !!!!

Stephen Harper and the Latest Shameless Con Scam

Well as we know only too well and too painfully, Stephen Harper has many screaming voices in his head. And he likes to play many roles.

One moment he's Great Warrior Leader, the next moment he's Great Mother Leader.

But now, if you can believe it, he's posing a Great Used Car Salesman Leader.

Trying to scam the gullible into believing he's a consumer champion !!

Stephen Harper and the Torture Cons

We have all read the horrifying stories about the CIA's torture campaign. The systematic brutality, the mechanical cruelty, the monstrous depravity.

And a lot of Americans are finally understanding how they got from 911 to Ferguson.

When hijacked airliners slammed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and an empty Pennsylvania field in 2001 everyone knew that the United States was changed forever. We had no idea, though, that what we are told are our essential values would be surrendered. Now thirteen years on we are left with a legacy of wars, deceit, torture and a massive erosion of our basic liberties.

But I wonder how many Canadians understand how far down the road to torture and depravity Stephen Harper has taken this country.

The Real Stephen Harper and the Light in the Darkness

I hate this time of the year, when it gets dark before you get home.

And of course nowhere is it darker than in Harperland, where the beast rules, and hope goes to die.

But now at last I see a glimmer of light. The Con Death Machine which has been on a rampaging roll for weeks may be grinding to a halt.

After the real Stephen Harper finally revealed himself in all his hideous horror.

The Night Stephen Harper Channelled Axl Rose

Well it must have been a scary sight. Stephen Harper at the Con Christmas party last night.

Channelling Axl Rose.

Stephen Harper channelled Axl Rose for his musical encore at the annual Conservative Christmas party on Tuesday night. Harper was on keyboards and lead vocals with his new band the Van Cats (as in 24 in French, 24 Sussex), and played the Guns N' Roses tune "Sweet Child O' Mine" to round out the night.

Even though Ol' Axl ain't the man he once was. These days he has a crazed look in his eyes.

But then of course, if you take a closer look, so does Stephen Harper....

The Day Stephen Harper Went Off the Deep End

As you probably know I have become increasingly concerned about Stephen Harper's mental state.

Since he's now at the age when the first Harper to arrive in Canada went off the deep end, and had to be forcibly removed from office.

So madness does run in the family. Those plunging oil prices have exacted a terrible toll on his nerves, by shattering his delusions of grandeur as the legendary leader of Greater Albertonia.

And sure enough, today he went completely CRAAAAAAAAAZY !!!
