The Apocalypse and the Monarch Tree

So I'm sitting on a bench down by the swan pond this evening, staring at the signs of The Apocalypse.

Two little trees that have surrendered to the Canadian winter. Already.

(click pic to enlarge)

And I'm screaming at them, in my mind. How could you do this to me? How could you leave so soon?

And wondering is it just me, or is the whole world going crazy?

In "liberated" Libya an American ambassador and a whole bunch of others are killed because of a REALLY bad movie made by a mystery film maker.

While in Canada, a Jewish television host who also likes to dress up, uses the airwaves to preach hatred against the Roma.

You know, those other Holocaust victims.

And Stephen Harper, who has turned Canada into a pariah state, gets honoured as a Great Statesman.

Harper won the award largely because of his support for Israel and his criticism of Iran. Clearly, though, the foundation either blatantly ignored or didn’t know that Harper is arguably the worst prime minister in history when it comes to defending democracy and human rights in Canada.

Presumably by this guy....

And as we wait to see whether Harper's bosom buddy Benjamin Netanyahu attacks Iran. And wonder what will kill us first, war or global warming?

In the cafeteria of a Montreal hospital, an argument over language ends with the Attack of the Killer Tomato sandwich.

Forty-eight-year-old Alex Montreuil was at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal for a CT scan, the day after the Quebec election-night shooting, when he alleges he was attacked with a tuna and tomato sandwich.

Gawd. I mean tabarnac.Talk about the signs of the Apocalypse. Can The Abyss be far off?

Oh well. Thank goodness my parents taught to look me to look for the good and the beautiful in everything.

And I did come across something amazing today.

A big tree covered in Monarch butterflies...

And it was such a wondrous sight it made my spirits soar like those little winged beauties.

Until Sébastien told me the large number of butterflies this year is due to global warming. Or just another sign of the coming Apocalypse.

Great eh?

And the good news?

I made a little video so you could see what I saw...

Hey. Enjoy what's left of summer.

For it could be a nuclear winter...

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the vid. Nice stuff.
I still think the Mayans may have got it right. There is a huge amount of vitriol being used in the Iran thing but I wonder just how much of it is just zionist imperialist propaganda. For more on that, check out either "Neturei Karta" or "Jews Not Zionists", both blogged by Jewish people.
You mentioned harper and by extension his extra anus, baird. If a shooting war starts, "bibi" and his guys won't even remember their first names. The flying burrito brothers have no clue yet just how insignificant the zionists actually view them as.
Where is that tree, anyway? Any chance the Monarchs are still there?

hi anonymous....thank you, I was shooting some video for another story I'm putting together, but when I came across the tree I couldn't resist taking some shots and sharing them with my readers. I know this may come as a surprise, but I do have a life beyond blogging. ;)
As for the butterflies I went by yesterday and they were still there. The reason they congregate there is because there is a patch of milkweed nearby which is their favourite plant. The tree is located just west of the pond at Gibraltar Point, where there is a fork in the road. If you do manage to get out there in the next couple of days, I wouldn't be surprised if the Monarchs are still there. I hope so anyway, because it's a truly awesome sight...
