Save the Women Save the World

Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn weigh in with this powerful plea for women's rights.

In the 19th Century, the paramount moral challenge was slavery. In the 20th century, it was totalitarianism. In this century, it is the brutality inflicted on so many women and girls around the globe: sex trafficking, acid attacks, bride burnings and mass rape.

The world is awakening to a powerful truth: Women and girls aren’t the problem; they’re the solution.

I'm not going to add any yappy comments like I usually do.

All I'll say is, as I have mentioned before, I was raised by strong and proud women.

Sébastien taught me that I didn't have to fight to be a real man.

But the beautiful women in my life taught me just about EVERYTHING else.

If you're a guy you really need to read this article.

If you're a woman go for it sister.

Because I'm counting on you to save us...

Yay women! And here's hoping the women of Afghanistan in particular will one day be treated as equals and get the respect they deserve.:)

hi Hannah... I honestly believe that until women rule the world...or at least have much much more political power...we will never be able to heal this world. Men have many admirable qualities. I certainly do. ;)
But running the world isn't one of them. All you have to do is put on the TV news and that's OBVIOUS.
As for the poor women of Afghanistan I share your hope. But I am not optimistic. The only hope is to educate as many young girls as possible and hope that they will be able to beat back the backward men and give Afghans a better future....
